Watching early seasons of You Can't Do That on Television and early All That, and for kids shows, it was edgy. Don't get me wrong, it is not Saturday Night Live or In Living Color type of edginess, but compared to the live action stuff I see on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel these days. YCDTOTV did some Nixon jokes, and All That doing an OJ trial parody.
My question is when did kids television lose that edge, no Nick or Disney sitcom are going to do any Trump jokes, what happened?

Curious, what struck you as edgy about these?

Curious, what struck you as edgy about these? perhaps he meant that even adults could find the satire enjoyable and funny. YCDTOTV was before my time, but early All That wasn't as kiddy as the later incarnations.

YCDTOTV did have a regular sketch about a kid about to be shot via firing squad, and there's various topics they played for laughs that they probably couldn't get away with now. Heck, the semi-frequent use of guns for humor (like the sketch where Rambo literally shoots kids in the audience from the screen) could never been done now.

Its funny how You Can't Do That On Television really did become just that, as not much they did could be on television (Well and still rated TV Y or Y7)
