I honestly thought it was going to be worse. I mean, it's not great. But it's better than employees shitting in the sinks, which is what I was picturing.

...K but seriously, in the lake, though? Washing something in a body of salt water? (Now I'm tempted to check if at least one of my common Chinese places (named Number One Taste ) is located close to any bodies of water. )

Anyone else ever have their favorite Chinese place have new management that ruins what was good about the place before? I went to the same Chinese place for almost 20 years but back in April they changed ownership when the original people retired. Went there one more time to check it out and it sucks now, so I haven't been back. And I went there nearly every week for two decades. I still haven't really found another place I like as well.

I've seen no less than two places close in under a year, likely due to new management. And these places were open for 15-20 years.

My old job we had a great CHinese buffet maybe 3 blocks away. It was fairly cheap, had great selection and food. And the manager was really nice. We would go there from work so often he would come out and talk to us and make various things for us to try. THen he retired and his cousin took the place over. Price on the buffet went up 3 bucks a person and the food started going downhill. By the time I left that job we only went there if all the other closeby places were packed. The food was now average food at a above average price.

Worked in a mini-mall that had a Vietnamese restaurant. Original owner sold to someone, food went to crap, they couldn't keep the quality of the food up. Eventually they sold to the son of the original owner after losing money for 3 years. Quality returned.

Wow, I had no idea this scenario has happened so often. For what it's worth the place I went to for years also at times got a C rating due to some sort of dish washing practices. It wasn't a particularly big deal though.

My usual Chinese place is called "No. 1" and is near a lake, so I got a bit worried it was the one I go to. Thankfully it wasn't.
