The Edgar Wright/Simon Pegg collaborations. Being geeks themselves they’ve crammed the DVD extras with stuff geeks (like me) would appreciate. Backstage footage, multiple cast/crew/fan commentaries, storyboards, plot holes, back stories, bloopers, deleted scenes, trivia tracks, homage references...just things that help flesh out the film and offer more insight into the production. Seinfeld box-set extras are also quite good for exactly the same reasons. on the Hot Fuzz DVD, Simon and Nick do commentary on an short action movie about a police officer Edgar did when he was younger, the commentary is just great for how much they shit on it

I miss easter eggs.
Also, on the Blu-ray release of the movie "The Man From Hong Kong", the extras included two full movies by the same director, "Stunt Rock" and another, and a couple of documentaries about stunt work.

Because these two have worked with and known each other for years, they can banter and go off on tangents which makes it far more entertaining. What was the short film called again ‘Dead something’? I know Edgar filmed it at a local supermarket.

Edgar Wright was working there stocking shelves when he made Dead Right as a student, filming during term breaks.

the airplane dvd has this cool thing you can turn on during the movie and whenever an icon appears you can press a button and it will take you to the directors and Lesley neilson explaining about what is going on.
also the NOFX dvd 10 years of f***ing up has them doing commentary on the dvd, then has the vandals doing commentary on there commentary of the dvd, which then has NOFX doing commentary over the vandals commentary over the original NOFX commentary of the DVD. its very funny.

Red Dwarf has great extras.
The cast do fantastic commentaries for every episode, each ep has a mini documentary. They pull in other shows that have done Red Dwarf bits like "Comedy Connections" showing the links between the guys that worked on the show and everything else they did, put the audio book of the novels on just SO much and it's all good.

I actually ripped the commentaries and regularly listen to them on my iPhone at work.

The various nuggets of wisdom from voice actors Cynthia Martinez, Monica Rial, and Chris Patton throughout the commentary for the anime Puni Puni Poemy. "That bitch owes me fifty dollahs!" "-and BIG BOOBS!" "DA BOOBIES!" "I'm making the intercourse sign at you!" "The universal sign for 'camel toe'!" "CAUSE I'M SCARED A HER!" "Mah lesbian lover." "Cthullu is on his way."

The Thor Ragnarok commentary was an utter joy, especially when the director’s two year old daughter got involved.
She would have much rather watched Moana.

some wrestling DVD have matches that aren't a part of the actual set as extras and those matches are better than the ones on the actual set Like, weren't the matches on the Rise and Fall of ECW DVD all considered "extras". Some good matches on there. I remember that the Great American Bash 2005 DVD had Sting vs. Ric Flair at GAB 1990. That was a welcome addition.

The James Bond DVD's had a great documentary series focusing on the behind the scenes stories of each film, narrated by Patrick MacNee.

The Batman and Robin DVD commentary is fascinating as it's just Joel Schumacher apologizing for it.

Don't know if anyone has seen the Nolan film Momento but there's a hidden option on my DVD to play the film in 'the right order'.

Evil Dead 2 and The Blair Witch Project have my favorite audio commentaries of all time.
I’m also a fan of the commentary on the first Resident Evil movie, where Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez are just having a grand old time and butting in whenever they think Paul WS Anderson is being too serious, to the point that both of them interrupt him to point out the two brief instances of Milla being naked.

Despite DVD/Blu-ray sales being down recently I was just reading an article about American Genre Film Archive. It pointed out that this is actually a golden age of DVD/Blu-ray releases. Since sales are way down some companies like AGFA are going all out by putting out super special editions of some incredibly obscure films.
I’ll be sure to pick some up when the price goes down. Not that obscure, but a super special edition of Maximum Overdrive was a best seller on Amazon last year. It was going for over $35! I didn’t want to pay a quarter of that to see it when it was new!

"Twat shot!" That commentary is hilarious. Rodriguez deliberately mispronouncing "Jovovich", both of them ragging on Eric Mabius' yoghurt obsession, and talking about all the times they got drunk during the shoot.
