I'm sure most old school wrestlers would see this as Bruiser protecting "the business" by being a total jerk to a rookie but to me it really doesn't portray him in a good light as a person. I don't want to take away from Vader's legacy or his autobiography but I've just never heard any really good stories about Bruiser as a person from other wrestlers. Also it's pretty crappy that he didn't get Vader booked in Texas, as he told him. It's a good thing for Bruiser that Vader really wanted to become a wrestler and didn't decide to fight back against Bruiser in the locker room. I see Bruiser someone who may have portrayed himself as tough but if a wrestler didn't care to risk their position they could have taken him down.

Yeah, plenty of guys had garbage things in common with him, but Brody was an all around 100% sack of shit.

I recall seeing their match on AWA television in '86. It was a rough bout. Brody mocked him in promos afterwards, asking Ken Resnick, "Where's Limping Leon?"

It was that attiude that lead to the events of his death IMO. I love Brody as a performer but the wrestling politician/stiff as an iron board on rookies Brody, i cant endorse that. I never understood why folks were stiff with job guys

I'm always much more impressed by the guys who came up through this environment of trying to drive the rookies out and didn't adopt that mindset themselves.

I think way more of the good guys in history exist than the bully types. I used to go to a lot of autograph conventions and indy shows and it was always one of the highlights of the shows seeing the legends, now in their 50s or 60s, either paying tribute to the older guys who treated them well coming up or discussing with the young indy talent about treating the newcomers with respect. I get that with time and not really knowing most of the answers in his death, that Bruiser Brody gets more revered but even in the very early days of learning about him and his death, it seemed that he wasn't exactly innocent in instigating bad things behind the scenes and it's very possible that he finally messed with someone he shouldn't have messed with.
