Look at it this way. If you don't fire him, how fair is it to the other workers who have to pick up his slack? And there are plenty of people who probably could really use the job. One of them will get that chance.

Speaking as a (I think) hard working employee, there is nothing worse than working with a slacking lazy co-worker. Fire them, all they do is piss off the rest of the team who are working hard and increase the workload onto the good workers. This so much,I work with a guy on my team and nobody likes him,we complain to our manager about him constantly but she still won't fire him or even send him to another team,eventually something will be done about him and right now it's looking to be a workplace violence issue,so ask yourself this what will happen if another employee just gets fed up with him and punches his lights out,imagine that headache.

If you've given him multiple warnings already then fire him. Its work, you've warned him, business is business.
