Announced that former WWE developmental Ohio Valley Wrestling is going to be airing live from now on.
The promotion airs in the Louisville region on WBNA Channel 21. Starting Wednesday at the Fight For Freedom, every show will be aired live. It'll start on Wednesdays before moving to Tuesday Nights starting in October.

Good for them.
Meanwhile, IWA Mid South will counter with a pirate broadcast on some porno site.
Considering Kongo Kong is champ once again, they'll have to categorize it under "fetish".

Hey, remember when TNA went live on Bischoff's request and it bled them dry? Al Snow sure doesn't.
I don't hate Al as much as many here seem to, but this is a colossal mistake because live broadcasts are hugely expensive and do squat for ratings.

I'm sure this is something Snow wouldn't do lightly, so hopefully it works out. I can't say I'm a big fan of most anything Snow's done since leaving WWE, and I think he can be pretty flawed in his reasoning of some things, but he's never struck me as a downright idiot.

Taking a page out of ROH's book, those young up and comers, the Rock N Roll Express are challenging for The Southern Tag Titles on the first live show on Wednesday.

Okay, okay, wait, hold up...
This airs in Louisville and they're going to air it live from Louisville...
Does nobody involved see how their somewhat limited radius of fans can't attend and watch on TV simultaneously? I mean, if it were a significantly larger region but...

Its basically the Ohio Valley of Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio that will have access to watch it.

That's the only way I see this working, because otherwise, they're cannibalizing their live crowd for their TV audience.

Going to a wrestling event in person is always more fun than just watching it on TV. And in certain ways, it's even more fun to be there in person for a live broadcast. I don't think it'll have a large effect on attendance when all is said and done.

Has OVW produced anyone ever since WWE cut ties from them in 07? Its a teaching school yet I can't recall anyone big coming from there Taeler Hendrix, Ruby Riott (though I don't know if she started there), and Serena Deeb might be the closest, but the first woman I mentioned isn't signed with any major promotion now due to being hard to work with from what I've seen online.

I’m pretty sure that Ruby Riott started out in Indiana training under Billy Roc before she ever made it to OVW.

But when you're offering the same contained and limited audience the chance to drive and pay to watch it, or watch it at the exact same time in the comfort of their home, it is historically proven that audience will pick the TV option. It's why local blackouts on NFL, NBA, etc were ever a thing.

Of those, Serena Deeb is the only one who got trained at OVW, and that was 14 years ago. The others just started working there after they had already been trained and were wrestling elsewhere.

I understand why they're trying to do it. Al's trying to give talent exposure to the same kind of conditions (live promos, working a match towards the camera as well as for the crowd) they'll be under if they work their way to a larger promotion.
I respect Al for taking the steps to do things like get OVW licensed as a vocational school in Kentucky and for trying things like this. But yeah, I also have to wonder how many folks will come out every week when they can watch it for free, especially since their present focus for TV and live events is squarely on the Louisville market.

Lot of production and buffering issues for their first live show.
