Dreamcast faced an uphill battle before it was even released, After the flops that were Mega CD, 32X & Saturn Sega's name was mud. Not to mention it's 3rd party support was weak missing heavy hitters like EA & Square. Yeah a lot of factors really hurt the system The Saturn's oh yeah we are releasing this today! Stunt hurt Sega's relationships with the third parties who were told they had more time to be part of the launch titles. Issues between Sega of Japan and Sega of America. Massive budget issues on some of Sega's first party stuff (Shenmue notoriously being so over budget that to turn a profit it would need everyone to buy two copies of it) The system was easy to pirate games on as well which certainly didn't help And of course The ps2 hype train barrelling down the tracks.

I owned one. (Techinically I still do but I think it's dead can't read the discs any more)
Soul Calibur, Shenmue, Crazy Taxi, Marvel vs Capom 2, Shadowman and other games were all ace.

I loved the weird stuff that came out for it, like Seaman.

If the system wasn't DOA in Japan, I think it could've had a decent lifespan. Sega was hitting on all cylinders in America with the DC, but the Japanese branch couldn't be any more incompetent.

It was alright. Remember really enjoying MvC2 and Skies Of Arcadia, but the system suffered badly from not having a killer app. I paid for the pre-order with my grocery store money and I never felt like the system delivered on something worth bragging about.

I can hear 10,000 Shenmue diehards crying out in pain. I still have a Dreamcast close to my telly. It's the definitive arcade-at-home experience (well, aside from the Neo Geo I guess, but SNK/Eolith supported the Dreamcast pretty solid.

My favorite console ever. I still have one though I don't have a TV I can hook it up to and don't feel like investing in any of those thingies that let you connect to an HDTV since I don't really play video games much these days.
