Been a week or two since I did one so figured post up another. @kn def will be on this. This is actually one I need to get back on as it has been a good min since I read it but this is one of those great sport mangas that has lasted a hell of a long time for as much as people like to make fun of One Piece. But yeah, Ippo as a character is very good. Starts out having to learn the ropes and with each new move, he always implements in his fights and nothing ever feels the same. Even when he takes an L he comes back and learns a lesson as well as his opponent as well who also gets screen time. Something I plan on getting back into soon but def recommend it

It's one of my favorites, but Hajime no Ippo has really fallen apart the last several years. It is definitely a solid read (and even more solid anime) up to a certain point though, so I still think it's the number one boxing story out of Japan.

Yeah this manga/anime's pretty dope. Without getting into details, the latest arc of the series has to be one of the best due to how different it is compared to most of everything else prior. Chapter 1274 just dropped a few hours ago and when I tell you I got hype? I got HYPE. It has to be one of the best chapter endings in this entire series to date due to what happened.
If you like wrestling with the stories then you'll love this. Sure there's been some parts that have been "eh what?" but overall it's a great read.

But I like to let a bunch of chapters build, myself.

While we are talking about manga/anime and boxing...I highly HIGHLY recommend Megalo Box. Remake/reimagining of one of the most famous/greatest shounen ever made, and just really solid.

It's one of my favorites, but Hajime no Ippo has really fallen apart the last several years. It is definitely a solid read (and even more solid anime) up to a certain point though, so I still think it's the number one boxing story out of Japan. It kinda feels like it's picking up again, but yeah, the manga had a period of stale-ness that went on for a while. A good long while. Maybe around the time when Ippo began fighting boxers from overseas... I think his first opponent then was the guy Miyata fought. Then there was that Kojima match with that one punch borefest that took forever. That said, recently there's been some good moments. Mashiba's most recent fight. Sendo's current antics (especially the most recent chapter with the spar). The thing that's been building up regarding Ippo finally has reached an interesting pace instead of feeling like a slog. As for the anime, the first "season" is one of my favorites. In comparison, second and third season didn't really wow me. 2 and 3, I think, due to being 24-episode seasons, made things feel more cramped. Only a handful of fights, and each of those took a while. That said, season 2's OP is great. Season 1's second OP is still the best one, though.
