It was really sad seeing him look like Homer Simpson in his last year with the company. He helped ruin the Sam Shaw, Dexter gimmick It was bad enough that Impact turned Shaw from what was going to be a calm and cool calculated type wrestler to a wacko who lives with his mom and has bunk beds but Anderson no sold everything They even did a stupid bit where Sam Shaw threatned to jump off the cage and "end it all" and Anderson just comes out and says do it so we can move on

Anderson’s feud with Angle in 2010 was excellent. He played the perfect douchebag heel and it had a good and logical ending. After that it went downhill after his Asshole promo got over and he turned face.

Really, the thing is the gimmick could have worked, but it was done in about the most amateur way possible. For one thing, the constant turns made it impossible to remain invested in Anderson, and for another specifically leaning into the word "asshole" for it just made the whole thing come off like it was written by an edgy 14-year-old. Really even just changing it to, "I'm a jerk," would have vastly improved the gimmick since it would come off a lot less desperate to shock.

I think he’s one of the few wrestlers who failed both in wwe and in tna.

Didn’t watch TNA at the time as I’d already given up but what I’ve seen of this gimmick it was super annoying. But I’ve always been a huge Kennedy/Anderson fan and will always believe that he could’ve been a top guy with the right booker/character.

Doesn't help the guy is trash in the ring.

Weirdly, he was one of the more solid parts of Aces and Eights, but that's more because Aces and Eights was like 70 percent shit. That was my favourite part of his entire run, along with him breaking from the group and being the one to finally end it. Shame the feud with Bully Ray went on for so long afterwards and that coincided with the truly awful character of Bully at that time. The neverending Aces and 8's angle was all worth it for that one funeral segment with Everyone just being awesome, Joe and Angle in particular

I think Bryan Alvarez summed up the character perfectly: “It’s possible to make an asshole character who’s likable. Mr Anderson is an asshole who’s just an asshole. He’s the most annoying character on the show and we’re supposed to cheer him.”
The difference with the Stone Cold character was that so many of his WCW fans knew why he had the chip on his shoulder. Anderson was clearly influenced by Steve but it came off pretty dollar store in comparison because he hadn’t molded the gimmick into his own, essentially (see: Ric Flair, Buddy Rogers)

Doesn't help the guy is trash in the ring. Along with Matt Morgan, he is probably the clunkiest wrestler I have ever seen.

In fairness, I thought he was the next Austin until he left WWE. Then I was just less excited about him in TNA, because I was less excited about TNA. And then TNA rapidly exposed him. I thought he was going to be huge then too.

I was so sad that his momentum stopped after Aces and Eights. He finally looked healthy and motivated for that run.

Yeah, color me bummed. I was a Kennedy mark and even excited for him in TNA but he faltered. And all the in-ring issues. I do remember wanting to buy his shirt. I am grateful I did not.

Which one, the one with a white silhouette of a donkey with a black hole on its hindquarters (gettit?) or the "Wrestling is Real, People are Fake" shirt?

It was great when he was a heel.
Cause he was supposed to be annoying.
His feud with Angle was one of TNA’s best ever feuds IMO. All the matches were great too, especially the cage match.
When he became a face and started calling his fans “his assholes”, t became ridiculously cringeworthy.
Mr. Kennedy/Anderson should NEVER be a face.

Count Me In with the people that thought he was going to be the next big thing in 2005. And then injury after injury. Then he had a feud with Shawn Michaels and a ppv match at Armageddon 2007 that was, meh. Then they had a rematch on Raw that was, meh. Then I realize maybe this guy isn't as good as his entrance. I was pulling for him in TNA but by that point the bloom was off the rose as they say.

In fairness, I thought he was the next Austin until he left WWE. Then I was just less excited about him in TNA, because I was less excited about TNA. And then TNA rapidly exposed him. I didn't think he was going to be the next Austin but in the WWE he definitely felt like a big deal with the announcing gimmick... then he basically messed up every single time the WWE were going to push him... by getting suspended or injured. Then a lot of wrestlers refused to work with him because he was wreckless... then he dumped Orton right on his bad shoulder after coming back from time off and that was it... WWE tried like hell to push him but the fact he faltered there was entirely on Kennedy.... Kennedy. It was really sad seeing him look like Homer Simpson in his last year with the company. He helped ruin the Sam Shaw, Dexter gimmick It was bad enough that Impact turned Shaw from what was going to be a calm and cool calculated type wrestler to a wacko who lives with his mom and has bunk beds but Anderson no sold everything They even did a stupid bit where Sam Shaw threatned to jump off the cage and "end it all" and Anderson just comes out and says do it so we can move on I remember a group of segments that took all night where he went out drinking with James Storm... I forget the context other than the two were feuding and Anderson was the Face... so they were talking and drinking all night... But swerve bro! Anderson wasn't actually drinking so he attacks a drunken James Storm from behind... Somehow we are supposed to think Anderson was the good guy here.

He was great as a heel in TNA and around the time he was feuding with Taker.
Then he got snakebit both by injuries and dumb decisions; just a perfect storm of bad luck, timing, and shooting his mouth off hurt him badly.
