Hate to hear this. To be honest, I'm relieved it was a heart attack. With his battles with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, I was afraid he would commit suicide some day as dark as that sounds. Regardless, may he rest in peace.

Shame to hear about this. Very creative guy, his documentary “The Devil and Daniel Johnston” is super fascinating. That theme in his work of feeling like a misfit but having more to offer is extremely relatable.

Such a creative person who was able to make wonderful and touching art as he worked through a painful mental illness. He will be missed.
