I think the last time I watched South Park was the superhero trilogy. Not really any particular reason I stopped, just kind of lost interest and never regained it - not even seen any of the old episodes again since then.

Like Family Guy and The Simpsons, South Park's golden age has long since passed.

Like Family Guy and The Simpsons, South Park's golden age has long since passed. Yeh for sure ,but it still has a decent quality and comedy to it. Funny enough the games were much closer to Golden Age South Park

Like Family Guy and The Simpsons, South Park's golden age has long since passed. These shows are unkillable. If Parker and Stone really want to get the show killed, they need to dramatically ramp up production costs so it becomes less profitable than it is now.

Like Family Guy and The Simpsons, South Park's golden age has long since passed. Having just re-watched every episode of South Park a month or two ago, I agree they’ve fallen from the heights of Season 6-11 but other then one recent season (I think it was 20, possibly 19) the quality is still pretty damn good. I’m glad to see it keep going, I still quite enjoy it. And limiting it to 10 episode seasons I feel helps keep quality up.

Season 19 is when I stopped watching it semi-regularly because it got way too preachy. And even before then, it became more habit viewing than anything because it just wasn't that funny.

If they were genuine in their desire to want to get the show killed, they could just not sign the contract surely?

They’re probably hoping they don’t get offered a contract so they can finally be free of the money demon.

South Park is still significantly better than the Simpsons and Family Guy.

There's also the writers, animators, etc, to think about, plus any guilt trip from Comedy Central since obviously, South Park's a pretty big part of their business. That said, I haven't watched the show in years, so eh.

I don't know, but I could foresee the distinct possibility that their contract had network options in them that obligates them to keep churning it out. If that was the case, I could also understand why they would not want to leave it in the hands of someone else.

Given how Viacom have been with creators on other series, Stone and Parker probably couldn't cancel if they wanted to. If they did they'd just be replaced and the show would go on like Ren and Stimpy once they canned John K.
That said, I doubt this was ever a genuine attempt at anything more than getting free advertising.

Loved South Park as a kid (I even had a Stan plush and a Kyle shirt), but after a few seasons it reached that Simpsons period where it had said all it had to say.
The Willzyx and Casa Bonita episodes are still funny, tho.

The more this show pisses people off, the more I love it.
