Damn RIP. Love the Cars, Orr and Ric were both great, even if you prefer one over the other (I love orr's songs a bit more) the other is great too and both singers made The Cars a great band.

Legit great band. I don't think they get the mainstream pub as much as some other groups so you need to dig deep to get into their catalogue, but a hell of a band.

I adore The Cars as well as his work producing Weezer's "blue" and "green" albums. RIP

RIP. The Cars are one of those bands I know I should do a deeper dive into. Their hits are staples of classic rock radio and I’m familiar with all of them. But I’ve never sat Don and listened to full albums. And I’d forgotten he produces the Blue Album. That’s a pretty big feather in his cap by itself.

They’re only really known for the song Drive here but that song played a very important part of Live Aid. They used it as the music accompanying a hugely powerful video of famine victims and helped donations rise. They then re-released it and gave the proceeds to Live Aid. It may be a small part of a larger career but it’s a significant part of music history. RIP

This week has put a real dent in the number of artists who'd take you home tonight.

Man, this sucks. I grew up with The Cars. The man was also a fantastic producer, and from all accounts was a genuinely nice guy in an industry that's full of people who aren't. RIP.
