You wrote back as I was replying to the first person, so thank you kindly as well! I'll take your suggestion to heart, especially since I know about Digital Homicide (I'm assuming I know everything) from Jim Sterling. Also, I bet my subbing to Whang is part of what got this recommended to me too. I watch basically all his videos, especially Tales From The Internet, and this sounds somewhat similar. Whang never really comes across as mean-spirited, though. I always assumed that this guy was more of the Kiwi Farms/Metokur "Seek and Destroy" type. Yeah, you're kind of dead wrong on that front. Fred makes this more of a repository of situations where one can reflect on various situations and, in the case of the videos on online personalities, the dangers of online fame and how most aren't mentally and/or socially fit to deal with it, especially over a long period of time, with these videos serving more as cautionary tales than anything. Sure, there's some trash entertaininment/drama report to be had but that comes with the territory. But more in fact, he doesn't usually offer much of an opinion and doesn't really have an angle except the informative/cautionary one.

I appreciate the way this channel explains these kind of stories, trying to make sure it gets as much accurate as possible without speculation or support of anyone in particular. It's something to just let you know what happened (dare I call it...journalism?) so you can form your own opinions.

DtRH is a video series where the host, Fred Knudsen talks about strange groups, artists and online weirdness. This one is about a YouTuber who became really bug in the gaming community but things went really off the rails. So, typical DtRH episode. It's way longer than normal though. It's a good one but not the one I'd start with. Give the episodes about Spoony, Digital Homicide and Chris-Chan a start first. I would like to think that the one guy, Kyle, meant well trying to help Wings lose weight but that seemed irresponsible on his part.

I would like to think that the one guy, Kyle, meant well trying to help Wings lose weight but that seemed irresponsible on his part. I have really mixed opinions on him after all of this. Like, making this offer, seeing it through when it was unexpectedly accepted, and going through all of the trouble and expenses for it is a super nice thing to do, but I really question the sincerity of the gesture that his response to all the problems that came out of it is to go mockingly tell stories about the experience.

I find the Metokur/Null Videos really vary in terms of quality depending on the subject. For instance, Null was the first person to actually do a video on Wings in this format and say his trolls are going too far. Null was there willing to cover the vexatious litigant child predator Jessica Yaniv. Metokur’s content on things like gangstalking and sovereign citizens are quite informative and entertaining. They’re both boundary pushing to say the least and certainly not for everyone, but there’s merit there for those who can get past the rougher exteriors.

He'd have me bullied to death if someone told him about me. Going after Yaniv doesn't make up for that.

I'd kind of like to find more in the way of decent informative people on Youtube. I really only pay attention to Down the Rabbit Hole, Whang, and Internet Historian, with The Right Opinion being something I'll occasionally put on for noise since he does some good things but don't pay much attention to since I really don't actually care about his usual Internet bickering subject matter.

He's nothing like Metokur so you don't have to worry about that. Part of what I like about him is that he keeps things strictly professional and more often than not has a subtle sympathy for his subjects. The only time I can think of him being angry at all was when he read Channel Awesome's terrible rebuttal to the accusations against them. Even in the Digital Homicide and Darksyde Phil episodes he seems more bemused by their antics than anything else.

Down The Rabbit Hole is great. And yes, Fred Knudsen is the exact opposite of mean-spirited: he is an incredibly thorough, sober narrator with incredible research and a just-the-facts approach. Heck, if anything, he’s TOO neutral a lot of times (like in his DSP video when he explained what swatting was by calling it a “questionable practice.” Understatement of the year, bro!)
I’ve only watched the first half of this video, due to its extreme length, but this is already just an all around uncomfortable and depressing chain of events.

He actually said in one of his "mistakes" videos he wishes he'd been a bit more clear that swatting is terrible. He actually kinda course corrects about swatting on this one.

Eventually the internet bullies who seem to be a recurring player in these DTRH videos are going to be directly provably responsible for a suicide as they're intentionally targeting people with mental illness for unrelenting abuse.
I wonder how they sleep at night.

I wonder how they sleep at night. That's pretty much what happened with Etika. Surprise, that also involved Keemstar.

The Chris-chan one in particular.

I imagine Chris’ death will just come from neglect when Barb dies. If anyone in this field of internet pseudoceleb is gonna kill themselves from all the negative attention in the near future, it’s gonna be Mumkey Jones or maybe Boogie. They don’t have the support systems in place to handle the damage and betrayals to go with the incredibly poor mental health. I actually found the Wings video here very interesting. It definitely paints a picture that screams Wings has untreated mental health issues from even before his fall from grace.

These names are all so new to me; the only ones I've known of what I've watched so far are Digital Homicide and Spoony.

I just finally finished the video. Just...ugh. Sad, tragic, pathetic, and hard to watch. I used to think Chris-Chan was the ultimate 21st century Internet-age tragedy, but Wings just may outdo him. That part where he broke down was just awful to watch. If anyone in this field of internet pseudoceleb is gonna kill themselves from all the negative attention in the near future, it’s gonna be Mumkey Jones Ah, a fellow intellectual. In all seriousness, I hate to say it, but I can easily see Mumkey becoming the topic of a Down the Rabbit Hole episode, sometime maybe a year or two from now (his saga isn’t over yet right now, I don’t think). I sincerely hope it doesn’t end in suicide, but one way or another, his story is pretty sobering.
