Was anyone a fan? I wasn't. Just getting into wrestling, he was a presence I never appreciated. I didn't like the hat, the beard or the sweatbands around his arms. Just seemed like a regional guy and a musclehead. They tried to push him with t shirts and posters. Thoughts?

I liked him, but the WWF made him look like a major chump. He got screwed in his couple of attempts to win the IC belt from Savage. He never got revenge on Hercules, that I can recall. And then he suddenly was paired up with Patera in their bland-ass "guys from Oregon" team that actually was more about Brady Boone that it was about Billy Jack or Patera. You almost never saw Billy Jack succeeding, and on top of that, he wasn't a good talker.

He was okay, I remember him nearly winning the IC title from Randy Savage on Wrestling Challenge before getting screwed out of the win by ref Danny Davis.

He was ok. I didn’t dislike him but I can’t call myself a fan of him either. I was into his feud with Hercules but not much beyond that.

Hercules going upside his head with a chain was Billy Jack's career highlight.

I think it was just a classic case of getting lost in the shuffle. He absolutely had the look Vince wanted, but so did a bunch of other guys and he had no discernible charisma to stand out from the pack.

There were so many more guys more talented, entertaining and interesting by WrestleMania III time that he was destined to be an opener on the card. In mid to late 1986 (his debut to Big Event time) he seemed to have a little more to offer because he was still new but if he had lasted any longer with WWF he would be a random guy on a Survivor Series team when no one else was available or a guy used in a WrestleMania battle royal because he just wasn't the star they needed for the main portions.

He's crazy by wrestling standards, and while he was ENORMOUS in his day, I think his mental health was already not in a great spot for wrestling back then, even before it deteriorated. Guys were terrified of him.

Was okay with him circa WM3 era, but really loved his late-80s heel run in Portland as well as his run in WCW as Black Blood.

Wasn't he supposed to come in to WWF around '84, I remember seeing promos for it.

Was okay with him circa WM3 era, but really loved his late-80s heel run in Portland as well as his run in WCW as Black Blood. I'm not the only one here that was a Black Blood fan! I started watching wrestling slightly before the debut of Black Blood in 91 so I had no clue who Billy Jack Haynes was. I remember being shocked years later when I found out it was Haynes and was always disappointed Blood didn't get more of a run. To 9 year old me he was a cool heel. From what I saw of his 80s WWF run years later, he was nothing to get excited about. I know according to that absolutely bizarre shoot interview he did about 10 years ago he was supposed to be a main eventer in WWF. Anybody know why that run or his WCW run ended?

Wasn't he supposed to come in to WWF around '84, I remember seeing promos for it. He had a few vignettes hyping his debut, but his father was very ill at the time and went to his bedside instead of going through with the TV debut which I think soured Vince for a time before he returned in 86.

I thought him and Ken Pantera’s team wasn’t bad
