RIP
Nog had one of the best arcs on the show. He started as an annoying kid no one liked, including the audience, and ends as a fan favorite. Cause of Death wasn't revealed, but Eisenberg had health issues with his kidney, he was born with only one and was waiting on a transplant.

I loved Nog's character growth over the course of the series. The Siege of Ar558 episode where he loses his leg and the episodes after where he comes to terms with it is some really powerful stuff. Sad news to hear of his passing, Rest in Peace.

I could swear I recall some news from a couple of years ago that he had died. Anyone else remember this?

He had a good career. He can afford entry into the Divine Treasury.

Cause of Death wasn't revealed, but Eisenberg had health issues with his kidney, he was born with only one and was waiting on a transplant. I think he also had issues with his heart.
I really liked Nog's arc once he got into Starfleet, making history as the first Ferengi to ever serve as a Starfleet officer. The strongest episodes of his, I think was the arc when he fought in the Siege of AR-558 and lost his leg. And dealing with the trauma and PTSD of not just his loss, but the deaths of the people he fought with at that battle by escaping into a Holodock fantasy.
Aron was also voicing now-Captain Nog in Star Trek Online as recently as last year. He was really friendly and well-loved among his castmates and Trek fans. It's a gut punch for the Trek family, especially since he was only 50 years old.

RIP. I'm glad he was able to be on the What We Left Behind documentary before his passing.

His wheeling and dealing in "Treachery, Faith and the Great River" was a joy to behold.

If anyone else here is a member of the Star Trek Shitposting group on Facebook, Aron was actually a member, and was completely in on the jokes. He was a fantastic dude from what I saw, and Nog, along with Garak and Martok, were most definitely the greatest recurring characters in Trek history.
Goodnight, sweet prince.

His wheeling and dealing in "Treachery, Faith and the Great River" was a joy to behold. I had a drink with a coworker last night while watching this episode. "I may be Starfleet, but I'm still a Ferengi."

His amputation storyline was outstanding. It even added greater depth to Quark, who was utterly incensed at Sisko over his injury and he stood guard over him and protected him from the Jem Hadar. They followed that with the brilliant "It's Only A Paper Moon" and Aron was immense at portraying PTSD.

I could swear I recall some news from a couple of years ago that he had died. Anyone else remember this? His health took a turn for the worse a few years ago, you're probably thinking of that, but he obviously survived for a while longer.

A Captain Nog cameo in Picard would have been ace.

They followed that with the brilliant "It's Only A Paper Moon" and Aron was immense at portraying PTSD. The recent documentary talked about this, and how ahead of its time the storyline was. I remember reading some behind the scenes stuff about the episode The Siege of AR-558, and how the writers specifically went against the grain in selecting the characters that would be trapped on the planet. Instead of the usual capable suspects like Kira, O'Brien, and Worf, they went with Bashir, Nog, Quark, and Ezri. Damn, I'm going to have to watch that episode tonight. Hell, a mini marathon with Siege, Paper Moon, and Treachery...

A Captain Nog cameo in Picard would have been ace. With a STILL Ensign Harry Kim under his command.

That DS9 documentary, filmed over the course of several years, is an extra bummer now - not just because I think he's one of the 1st major people from the cast to die (a few supporting folks have passed, such as Brook Peters and Barry Jenner), but because part of the doc is Ira Behr & several writers brainstorming a Season 8 proposal......which basically launches with the death of Nog as a catalyst to reunite the show's characters. RIP Aron.
