Yeah, there's been a lot of backstory and lore about pre-Episode I stories, but outside of that timeframe you mentioned, it's either ~5000 BBY, ~4000 BBY, ~3640 BBY, and ~1000 BBY, along with a few stories about the origins of the Jedi Order and the formation of the Sith. Then you jump ahead to Qui-Gon Jinn's time. And after 40 ABY, you jumped right ahead to the Legacy era around 127 ABY. There's literal thousands of years' worth of stories to tell even if Disney kept everything from Legends 100% canon. I guess Jedi Order wasn’t around in the time of the Infinite Empire. That would be a cool timeline to see even if it were just a flashback of a huge confrontation like at the beginning of the Fellowship of the Ring One of the original incarnation of the Jedi, the Je'daii Order, was around on Tython. They had limited interactions with the Infinite Empire, but I believe the Je'daii fought them back. Tython was also tough to get to even for the Rakata as it's in the Deep Core and I don't think they were able to make a stable hyperspace route to the world. There were some Legends comics called "Dawn of the Jedi" about the really early Jedi, the Infinite Empire, and the first schism between light (Ashla) and dark (Bogan) by Dark Horse. Interesting stuff. It also established that the Flesh Raiders on Tython in SWTOR were mutated, lower caste Rakata that devolved into primitiveness over the millennia.
On that note, Rakata Prime is canon, as is an artifact of theirs that appeared in Solo in Dryden Vos' little museum on the First Light.

id even be fine with a movie about the slave rebellion that ended the Infinite Empire but that wouldn’t fly for many people

I would much rather jump forward in the timeline than go backwards, but eh, it is what it is. Same here. I think going far into the future would have been the better choice.

Judging from recent mentions of the High Republic in stories, it seems it will have less to do with the republic itself than it is Jedi expanding themselves into the unknown regions.
Makes sense. It's clear there were no major conflicts in the Republic until the Clone Wars.

I wouldn't be shocked if they don't alter the "Outbound Flight" story of old legends into something that happened in the past. It would effectively help "seed" future stories.

An alternate history show where the Confederacy managed to survive would be interesting, but not in the hands of these two shitbergs.

I've seen that. The ads alone are brilliant satire.

I guarantee you that all of the directors from the first season of the Mandalorian are being groomed to do movies for LucasFilm at some point. Favreau is an inevitability, and after him Taika is the next in line with the record to prove he can handle it.

Alan Tudyk being back as K-2SO is all I needed to actually care about this series.

I watched Rogue One last weekend and it’s incredible how good that movie is. I loved it before Episodes VIII and IX and it’s even moreso now. It’s sad really how much Abrams and Johnson completely shit the bed.
