Once the Network became a thing, they really, really started half assing the DVD releases. They used to be f***ing phenomenal, but then they started doing less and less. The ECW one was so good, I watch it and think “I have to go back and see this shit”. Then I try and remember by and large why I hate ECW. Mostly Joey Styles. Styles is so damn overrated. I find it hard watching any ECW footage with him doing solo commentary. Pairing Cyrus with him, however was great.

For those who are more DVD specialists: has WWE ever offered alternative audio commentaries / ' talking about the event and matches while it plays..? This is the only reason I'm interested in buying DVD's anymore. In the ages of podcasts, it is not really needed, but ' would have been kind of cool if they did it before. I remember some RVD DVD had him speak before the matches, but not sure if there was any audio during 'em...

One with Rock, and one with Austin.

I feel like they still have TONS of quality material in their vaults that could keep their compilation discs going for years to come (*COUGH*Savage/Taker*COUGH*), but it's their call. Gotta wait for Hidden Gems, I suppose. I am sad we never got that DiBiase set, though, nor a real one for Andre. Speaking of which, yes, the Network has made DVD redundant, and a lot of material was, "Hey! I can watch that on the PPV/Nitro/Raw archives on the Network!" lately. Unreleased was a great series, till that became "just stuff not put on DVD yet." I feel old, having seen VHS die out and now apparently its successor is heading towards its twilight. Like most of ECW, you had to be there AT THAT TIME. Styles got lots of love back then cause "OMG he calls moves/doesn't talk about the NWO only/doesn't just say What A Manuever..." There were also his then-cutting-edge shots at WWF and WCW, but as I've discussed numerous times, few company-to-company jabs hold up now.

Unless I'm mistaken, Rise and Fall of ECW isn't even on the network. It's the second thing listed under ECW on the In-Ring page. Oh ok, I was looking for it under originals in the documentaries section lol. Silly me.

There's a Rey/Psicosis match where Joey calls out Bobby Heenan for his jokes about Mexican wrestlers.

This is actually a pretty big deal because it means residuals being paid for old matches will now be a thing of the past. When WWE was getting ready to launch WWE 24/7 in 2004, they started putting language into contracts saying that talent would not be paid from revenue derived from video on demand services.
