WWE should throw Meltzer couple millions to make him on-screen personality! He's so soft spoken and buff as Bouffalant. Easily defeats Cedric Alexander's of the world. Nah. We'll get a 3 hour flex-off between Meltzer, Vince and Gary Strydom.

That Rusev comment is just symbolic of the WWE right now IMO
“Nobody cares what you think”.......That guy is a viewer for now so you should
There are multiple ways that Rusev could have defended it without being condensing, hell even ignoring it would have been a better choice. I understand that the consistent negativity they probably get tweeted in their direction probably gets to them but damn I’m sure there’s at least one twitter comment that make the same point in a more douchey way that would justify that sort of reply

If what Meltzer is writing about you is utter bullshit why wouldn't you just ignore it?
Responding gives it more weight.

Jesus f***ing ass this Meltzer shit on here is just as bad as political shit on Titter and Facebook. Tell me about this "Titter". I wonder if that's how Moxley got the inspiration for "Titty Master"?

One thing I can't stand is wrestlers using Twitter. I understand that kayfabe is "dead". But it'd be nice if wrestlers these days attempted to remain in character and provide a sense of old school portrayals of their wrestling characters. Twitter works for individuals like Miz, Ziggler, Lynch, Charlotte, and Rousey since it fits their particular character.
I hope that wrestling more or less returns to the old school way of kayfabe. Wrestlers should banned from using Twitter and maintain a sense of characterization outside of the ring.

When they respond like this to just 'Hey I'd be pretty cool of this story just dropped' and that's the sort of comment that gets singled out as shit, the whole-ass site just has to be shut down, it's all bad. This is awful.

When Rusev (and Harper, and Lana and Big E and countless others) have tweeted things calling out the WWE's booking, people have lapped it up.
Fans only want wrestlers to be real and opinionated online so long as they're agreeing with them.

Am I the only one who gets the feeling that the wrestlers are being..."encouraged"...to respond to news/criticism (regardless of amount of truth present), particularly after the Crown Jewel fiasco?

Whatever the reasoning is, it’s very off-putting that WWE fandom has to be so f***ing confrontational. We have wrestlers dismissing fans criticism as blind hatred and fans dismissing wrestlers opinions for toeing the “party line”... Surely there’s a middle ground somewhere?
I tell you what, somebody f***ing find it already.

That’s a pretty firm difference here.

If there was a time to implement some kind of company wide social media policy that can be seen on the corporate website so that shareholders don’t get antsy or something along those lines, now would be it. Instead I think WWE’s wider policy is the same as Twitter’s 99% of the time which is; 🤷🏻♂️

That’s a pretty firm difference here. Rusev's response was hardly a vicious takedown, he just said that nobody cares what the guy tweeting him thinks. It's not even clear that he was endorsing his current storyline, he could be implying that he's tried to kill the angle, he knows the fans hate it, but none of those opinions matter because Vince wants it. Regardless, fans skins are so thin, anything resembling a criticism of them or endorsement of the WWE is seen as a personal insult. It's true across the board, where the likes of AJ were dismissed as being yes men just because they didn't feed the narrative about what went down in Saudi.

Like, nothing resembling that. Nobody was also saying it WAS a vicious takedown, just dumb and unnecessary, which it was. Also people have pointed out this for years, for as good as AJ is, he’s very much a yes man. The only reason he stopped defending TNA and Dixie after years of obvious abuses in booking was because he wasn’t being paid anymore and had no need to ever go back there again.

The tweet is nine words long. He does not offer an opinion on whether he agrees with the person saying they should end the storyline, just that nobody cares what the guy thinks. That's it, that's the tweet. Anything beyond that (and therefore most of the ire directed towards Rusev in this thread) is a projection that he's defending the storyline. Which is not what we want to hear. People leap to conclusions and decide what wrestlers opinions should be based on a belief that subjective booking quality is the be all and end all of their experience. And then take personal affront if that isn't the case.

Because that clearly says that he did care enough about what this guy thought to respond to it? I mean, I could turn this around and say that Rusev was over sensitive and jumped to conclusions about what this guy thought by your own logic.

I wish Scott Steiner had twitter during his TNA days. His end of WCW days where he was just saying anything that he wanted on TV probably would have been even more of a train wreck.

It's far easier to deduce what the original tweeter's opinion on the angle is, compared to Rusev's from his response (especially given Rusev's previous comments on Twitter). But sure, you can if you like.

I tell you what, somebody f***ing find it already. It's just exhausting. Both sides feel disrespected by the other (fans feel disrespected when the talent looks like they're defending WWE, talent feels disrespected when the fans accuse them of not standing up to management), while the specter of Vince McMahon looms large over everything.

Leaving aside the fact that if he agreed with him that he wouldn’t be telling the guy his opinion does not matter........this guy is a viewer/fan. Lord know the WWE has lost enough of them that surely the ones who are just offering an opinion without being disrespectful to anyone in particular can be disagreed with civilly

The term “burying” is thrown around too loosely these days. Losing to a top guy like Styles in a back and forth 15 minute match isn’t a burial. Alexander lost in under 5 minutes on the pre show of Clash of Champions to Styles in a match in which he got hardly any offense in, and the following Raw ended up taking the pin in a match with the OC. The only match he has won since getting the pin on Styles at MSG on Sept 9th is a victory on Main Event over Cesaro.
The dude might not have been outright buried, but as of now, he looks like a total loser and considering that he has no character, that is pretty much all you can say about him.
