I feel like this season has been missing something from past seasons. Not finding it as funny this time around. I think for me, this season Harley has been more annoying than she has been amusing or charmingly chaotic for me. We’re 6 episodes in and the main plot has basically been “Ivy trying to do Ivy shit, and Harley(and friends but mainly Harley) continues to distract her very much to her chagrin with “whacky” Harley hijinks.” It is just so…repetitive and until they actually do something with her this season that isn’t related to that, I kinda…don’t want her on my screen right now? Which is kind of a damning thing when she is the titular character, but I’d rather have more of this, “I’m not the stepdad, I’m the dad that stepped up” suburban soccer dad Joker. Like there’s real meat on the bones of that characterization. Basically so far for me this season stock in Harley is down, stock in Joker is up. The extremely reduced role of Kite Man isn’t helping either, honestly. I know he has the spin off coming, but even then, the vacuum he left is gaping and hasn’t been filled yet. Same for the hole left by Doctor Psycho.

I think the season has been alright so far. It definitely feels like Harley herself has nothing to do but I do like Ivy actually being Ivy for a change and stepdad Joker is way more engaging and hilarious than it has any right to be.
Also, Bane continues to be the MVP whenever he's on screen. I'm way more invested in his quest to get his pasta maker than I should be.

HBO Max continues instead of kills a series? Break into all the channels and cover this 24/7 instead, this is the very definition of Breaking News!!!!

Of all the things not to get canceled, it’s this?

Of all the things not to get canceled, it’s this? Yes, they decided to renew a popular and critically acclaimed show. Shocking news to be sure.

I've seen season one and parts of season two (none of season three). After season three, does it genuinely feel like there are stories left to tell? Or does it just feel like it's continuing for the sake of continuing a popular show?

A lot of people seem to disagree given that it's been renewed for another season. Not even David "Cancel Everything in Sight" Zaslav can ignore it.

Harley's been rather weak this season, can't ignore it... from the first episode on, really.
Maybe her and Ivy getting together should've been a good place to stop it.

I think the fact the original showrunners are packing it in after only one season of Ivy and Harley being together tells you all there is to know. They're bored of that toy already and want to play with new ones (like the Kite Man spin-off, as he's a far more captivating and likeable character) Ivy and Harley aren't even that good a relationship, there's a reason the mainline DC Comics never commit to it. They were always better suited as best friends in Batman: The Animated Series and fans blew that out of proportion. I'd love Harley to permanently break away from Ivy and settle with a guy, like how it is with the White Knight trilogy where she and Bruce are endgame.

Personally, I like Harley with Booster Gold. Don’t really care much for any of her other male love interests. Bruce maybe, but that wouldn’t last in the main continuity.

As this season has gone on, another thing that I have noticed is this season it really feels like they’ve kinda…shrunk the scope of the world in this series.
First two seasons utilized a wide swath of characters and groups. This season, everything’s mainly been pared down to basically just the Batfamily, Harley & her friends, and Joker and Catwoman.
The episode where they went looking for Swamp Thing was probably the closest it felt to the prior seasons in terms of exploring the scale of the world to me. We went from involving the Justice League and even god damned Darkseid, to, well they’ve been spending a god damn long time in Catwoman’s place as a locale for scenes I’ll just say.

This season is a slow dirge of scattershot ideas and awful animation.
It's well and truly poor and I'm kinda awed it has the amount of good will still that it does.

I have to wonder if some people are giving this season some leeway due to it being a pandemic production? Because that certainly would at least explain many of the shortcomings. The heavily reused locations, the vastly smaller scope of characters, the sharp decline in the amount(and quality) of the action animation.

Fun season, though last season was better I thought. And please no on sticking with Harley with a dude. I'm so tired of DC screwing with their fans by not committing to relationships. Bruce/Catwoman, Nightwing/Barbara/Starfire, Ivy/Harley. Just gets hard enough to care about comics if the stories don't matter and everything just resets to status quo every time. Relationships can work in comics, writers and editors just need to be creative and not lazy as shit.

It’s not physically abusive like her relationship with the Joker was, but Harley’s relationship with Ivy isn’t as sweet as fans/writers like to portray it as either. Ivy’s still a homicidal maniac with no issue over killing people to get her way. She just doesn’t abuse Harley. Harley needs to be with a straight up superhero if DC constantly wants to portray her as part of the Batman Family, Justice League or a hero at all. Stop dating criminals.
