So not exactly a send off for Scurll. Wonder what the deal is going forward. My guess in the NWA thread was that Marty might use this year to kind of pull a Cody: have some deals and contracts structured so that he's able to work in a whole bunch of places, drive his name value even higher, and then at some point eventually arrive in AEW (it just feels like the most likely outcome, eventually). It lets him make some serious bank while he's hot, lets him work a bunch of places or other wrestlers he'd probably like to try out, etc. That's all speculation, mind you.

I'm happy for PCO, and think Rush is less hurt by losing here than he'd have been in the "everyone gets one title reign, tops" era, though multiple reigns are more common nowadays.
As for Marty, it's hard to say what he's going to do, though I wouldn't be surprised if he is going to be putting over PCO in a match or something.

If not a year, definitely a few months, but we'd see. I also wonder if he'd look at getting a separate deal with NJPW by the time he did go to AEW like Jericho and Moxley had, though that's also obviously going to be trickier now than it'd have been when they did it. In any case, does feel like the wrestling world could be Marty's oyster.

He wasn't going to work US shows and were really using his name value to drive up New Japan subscriptions outside of Japan. But in Moxley's case, I think they were hoping to use him to add name value to the US brand to replace the loss of the Elite. So if Scurll wants a deal like them, I doubt he gets it, unless he takes significantly less money. While he is very popular in Japan, they don't need him in the Junior division and he's not a big enough draw over there to pull stupid amounts of money. However, if he can work in the States and outside of Japan, they would take him in a heartbeat as he's a big enough star to build around in the US/UK.

Oh, I don't mean he'd be getting Jericho or Moxley money, that'd be insane, especially the former, who makes like 100k per NJPW match. I just mean potentially working for them in a limited capacity, since he's apparently expressed a desire to do some more work for them.

I would love to see him back in New Japan, but at the very least he would have to do BOSJ. As far as the money, I bet he has some pretty large offers on the table from AEW and WWE if he wants, so while he probably won't command Jericho/Moxley money, he won't come cheap either. I could actually see New Japan paying him well, just not as part time and Japan only.
