I mean, does anyone honestly, REALLY think someone would go, "Oh, wait, I should consider the country this person's from before making this joke?" in regards to something like this? To people who crack jokes like this black is black, and I feel like anyone trying to claim, "Oh, but they're not American so he didn't mean..." is being deliberately contrarian.

I honestly don't think Cornette thought, "Shit, I'm going to make a racist joke!" I think his word choice was f***ing stupid and the whole point was that hungry Ethiopians would maul someone for food. That's still a pretty tasteless joke, but nowhere near as bad as it comes across. Plus, half of the people losing their shit over this defended Randy Orton straight out using the N word, so f*** them and their picking and choosing of who to be mad at. Cornette has said countless suspect shit. He doesn’t get the benefit of doubt and him and Randy aren’t the same thing. As someone who is black, Randy isn’t racist. The way he used the word was a clear slip up, tho I believe he no doubt uses the word as a term of endearment (even tho he shouldn’t) but they are not remotely the same Randy had a drunken slip up, Cornette has continuously said stupid shit for months Randy Orton is a piece of shit, even without the "drunken slip up". |

I’d say that it was casual racism, meaning that he went with the Ethiopia line but his mind went straight to fried chicken. As has already been mentioned there’s roughly a million ways that he could have gotten the same point across but his mind went straight to fried chicken when speaking of hungry Africans. It’s offensive on just about every conceivable level. |

Cornette's twitter follower count is going to go up because of this, mark my words. That's the world we live in, now. Cornette knows it, too. He might vote a certain way, but I think he's fully aware his schtick isn't landing quite so charmingly for people he sees as 'in his lane', and more and more he's courting the 'lol are u triggered' camp with his behavior. He's already got a track record of retweeting stuff in the "I don't agree with you on Trump but I love watching you get these SJWs mad" vein, and I think he's playing more and more to that audience, partly because he's a shitty, bitter old man slowly finding he has more in common with them, and partly because that's a lucrative demographic a lot of other people are already courting and making money by pandering to. People are going to hear him being racist and take that as a reason to support him and listen to his shit, so he'll keep getting more racist and sexist to keep them hearing what they want to hear, and in the process he'll get into one twitter spat after another picking fights with people who aren't 'in on his act' because he needs to keep feeding a rapidly ravenous and hungry base only around to watch him do his tired old man schtick and say bigot shit to people. Dude's pretty concretely trapped himself in a cycle where he wins financially, a bunch of goblins win through validation, and everyone else has to suffer. |
