Really felt like just no one who really matters wanted to bother with it this year. Nintendo did nothing, Microsoft showed off some hardware but nothing in particular detail, bunch of other people just dumped their shit in what Sony calls their Direct knockoffs, pretty much every other big company was a total no-show... Just pointless. At least Bravely Default and No More Heroes are cool I guess. Muppets were fun.
What? What? What?

NMH 3 got a deceptive trailer on the pre-show (with its initial reveal being at the Nintendo E3 back in June).

Got Disco Elysium. Time to see what the hype is about.

Probably gonna be the last Game Awards I ever watch live, just on the count that the show was dull and honestly so many of the game reveals felt like the same three game ideas being recycled over and over to the point I wish the bunny shooter game was real.

Got Disco Elysium. Time to see what the hype is about. Chose Slay the Spire. Was hoping for the PS4 port, but I'll take Steam.

I'll play that Fast & Furious game, and the new Xbox looks nice, but yeah, kind of a letdown. No Arkham announcement, nothing as far as surprises.

This show made me question my interest in gaming's future.

Guess I was too late to get any of the codes.

I can’t help but wonder if the State of Play being literally just days prior kinda screwed the event over on some of the bigger potential announcements.
Like I could definitely see something like RE3make being announced officially at the Game Awards had the SoP not happened, for example.
Also Sekiro is a nice game, but I kinda feel it is like Green Book winning the Oscar for Best Picture? Like it is just the safest choice of the lot that the voters could agree on. The entire time it just kinda felt like the nominee that was just there to me, like they needed that one last nominee to fill out the roster, and just grabbed the nearest game they could come to a consensus was “good”. I just never actually expected it to win.

Well-deserved win for Sekiro. Would’ve been cool with that, RE2, or Control (still playing Outer Worlds, don’t have Smash, and traded in Death Stranding after 10 hours).
