It was funny in a way, that Chief Jay Strongbow was a fake, but his fake "brother" Jules Strongbow was legit. Not directly. They are Hispanic, so there is likely some indigenous blood in them further back, but nothing in their recent genealogy. But yeah, outside that Wikipedia page, there aren't a whole lot of Native Americans that have made a name in the business. Many of the "indian" gimmicks over the years were portrayed by Hispanics, Mexicans and even Middle Easterners. And Italians, for some reason. On Italians, I guess having black hair and a darker complexion might have been seen as making it more plausible, particularly if they shaved and kept body hair to a minimum, but yeah, I can't imagine that even at the time a lot of people were fooled by some of the acts. Italians playing Native Americans is pretty common in entertainment. "Iron Eyes Cody" for instance was Italian.
