It wasn't bad, but I was more so annoyed by it
The human main characters are insanely annoying. The best thing about this is the monster fights which they did great on but yea they have to figure out a way to structure out that annoyance because it saps enjoyment

Loved this film. I don't like though how they keep killing off the best human characters in these movies. Cranston in the first, Ken Wanntebe in this one. Though, his death was fantastic and that score when Godzilla comes back was epic as hell.
Curious how they pull off Kong vs Godzilla next movie though. I guess Godzilla is more tweener and Kong is more face, just going to be hard to root against Godzilla if they go that route.

it was a great movie.
my biggest problem with the kong talk is... well Kong is just a big monkey... he's not a giant death lizard like Godzilla.

This movie weeks after taking it in to me what this was was specifically for fans of Kaiju Movies not simply Godzilla but the director clearly understood why the fans who would come to see this are coming to see this and put the focus right on the monsters which to no surprise were the best things about the movie.
Things like Rodan having his Toho roar , Ghidoras terror played when he is awakened it is things like these that really emphasis that this was made by a Godzilla fan and really this movie was for those fans like us that would notice those things.
I will say though I think the trailers in this instance really ended up hurting the movie because it really made it seem like this movie was going to be balls to the wall just monster beat downs from beginning to end with an epic soundtrack....and it wasn't quite that because we just had to keep cutting these fights up to go back to the damn humans because western audience needs their relatable humans,
In japanese Godzilla movies the humans are there to take in the battles
In a western Godzilla movie the humans are interjected into the battles ugh
But my big mark out was the soundtrack my absoloute favourite of any movie this year

Yea, I actually liked it overall Just stuff like the wife basically being the biggest antagonist behind Ghidorah and getting a redeeming moment didn't really connect with me. I was upset when they killed Wantanabe off tho. That man held both movies together

Well they threw out that little caveat that they are glad Godzilla is on out side and something like "for now" was said shortly after Something is going to have to happen on Godzilla end as the monsters bowed down to him at the end and he has only come back to kill the monsters and somewhat save humanity

Maybe they go full alien (or even better seatopians who live underground!!) like the old movies and there is a group of humanoids who can apparently control the monsters to wipe out mankind. Then Godzilla and Kong are moving towards a human base that stands at the precipice of a hole into the underworld, preping to drop a bomb or something into it that would maybe destroy the Seatopians AND THE WORLD. Everyone thinks they are going there to destroy it and protect their new masters, but Godzilla and Kong are too boss and instead the just handshake like Arnie and Carl Weathers in Predator then jump down that whole and start wrecking shit together. Lolol.

In japanese Godzilla movies the humans are there to take in the battles In a western Godzilla movie the humans are interjected into the battles ugh That simply isn't true at all. Most of the Toho Godzilla films are not only centered around the humans, but they are constantly interjecting themselves into the battles. In the original, Godzilla was ended by one single dude. In King Kong Vs. Godzilla, the humans literally pick Kong up and take him to Godzilla to fight. Every Mechagodzilla of the later years was literally humans in mech armor. Finals Wars has humans taking down monsters with fancy martial arts. In several, they interjected themselves to stop aliens controlling the monsters.

I think the real difference between the western ones and the Japanese ones so far have been that the Japanese one's human character are so much more interesting/fun so you don't mind the screen-time devoted to their scenes... That and, as has been pointed out, the American ones tend to kill off the interesting characters (or ones that just plain work) in favor of random bland people. I think Godzilla King of the Monsters was slightly better in this regard. I certainly cared about the dad dude and some of the other characters more than military man and his family. The only thing I thought they did that was silly was people running around in the middle of the battle like it was some kinda theme park ride, felt like it sorta just padded the screen time without anything interesting or meaningful happening most of the time.
Some of my favorite parts of old Godzilla movies are actually the people. Glen and Fuji elevate Monster Zero so much, and their actions save the monsters before they save the world. Goro and the scientists in Son of Godzilla save the movie (I guess this is one instance of the people in the movie just being there, sort of as victims). Hell one of the movies had a comic book artist, of all things, who's drawing was so "life like" (I guess to a cockroach?) that they shot it and blew up the tower that was killing Godzilla. A comic book artist saved Godzilla with a drawing! Him and the corn cob wielding hippie are two of the best and most memorable parts of that movie.
Still, Godzilla King of the Monsters was a drastic improvement over the previous installment.

I loved it, much more so than the first installment. To me, it captured almost exactly what the Godzilla movies generally encapsulate, right down to the humans and the annoying kid getting involved. Eleven is a Kenny.

I enjoyed this movie quite a bit.
Because I'm selfish and need more nostalgia, I was hoping for more cameos at the end, but I get that's a budget thing.

Lolol. Major possible SPOILERS for Godzilla Vs Kong. From a Toy fair in Hong Kong showing merch for the upcoming film. {Spoiler}{Spoiler} Bumped this cause I couldn’t find a Godzilla Vs Kong thread.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}So is that a Mecha or a Skeletal Godzilla? Can't really tell from a glance. I'm guessing it's a hybrid "both". I'm assuming they'll use one of the old skeleton's they've shown in previous movies as the "frame" of Mecha. Just like Toho did like... twice? Maybe 3 times? Can't remember off the top of my head.

It was alright. It sorely missed the cinematography from the first that showed things from the human persective instead of loose video game style of KOTM.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. I felt the first movie was a better overall movie, but this one is way more fun and definitely more re-watchable.
