I know he probably has a non-compete clause preventing it, but him levelling a champion at New Year's Dash would be excellent.

Harper is free! This is the best news for me all day.
Oh, Sin Cara blocked me so... eh.

I don't even have the time to watch wrestling, but New Japan Pro Wrestling may have found their next brutal super heel. Or the other non-WWE companies.
This might make force me to MAKE time.
WWE has never faced such competition from many fronts before.

I don't know if Suzuki-Gun is still gonna be a thing next year, but he'd be a perfect fit.

Hmm, I wonder if Vince is ill. Him suddenly being so lax seems odd

I liked Luke Harper. He had skill, but I really don't see him as nothing more than a nice addition somewhere else. Sorta like how I view Swagger going to AEW. Might be used better, but is he going to be the one that WWE let get away en route to "lose the war." Doubtful in imo. Ambrose/Moxley is the only one who warrants such a viewpoint imo.

Finally ... but era is it really a big loss...quite overrated on the iwc It's a guy they're paying an assload to sit at home and do nothing with, having for months told him they will do nothing with him. Logic says just cut him, save the money, and open the spot for somebody you do want to use. WWE does not operate under logic.

I hope he find success elsewhere, great talent that has been horribly misused in the end.

It’s like we’re at the end of the Vince Who Stole Christmas.

Finally ... but era is it really a big loss...quite overrated on the iwc Sorry but imo that's bullshit. Nothing to do with the IWC. He's a big dude who can go in the ring and, if people liked him because of that, than their appreciation was warranted.

But like a lot of the one's complaining to be released, Bennett, Cara, Oney etc wouldnt be a big loss to them (Rusev if thats true would be the only one but im guessing he's leveraging for more money)

Also, good on WWE for letting their pettiness go. Like the guy or not, there’s zero benefit keeping people who are unhappy in the company and it’s absurd to say otherwise when you have a roster full of talented people, some haven’t even debuted on NXT yet!
Balls in your court now, Impact.

When was Harper's contract scheduled to expire?
Because this could be petty as hell if there wasn't much time left and they did it just to slap him with a non-compete clause.

I’m not the biggest Mike Bennett fan (I also think he’s completely fine) but if he wants to leave and he’s not happy at WWE, unless they’re going to turn them all to employees and have actual grounded set contract limits, let them go. It does nothing for your bottom line or morale to keep them.

Also, no Luke Harper isn't a hidden megastar in that if he goes elsewhere and shines isn't going to make WWE lose the "war" (there is no war). But he was a solid big man who was criminally misused by WWE. He was one of the most prolific examples of the drawbacks of WWE's Pokemon mindset with getting everyone they can without a plan on how to use them. He can go to AEW, New Japan, or Impact and get booked so much better than he did in WWE.

Good news. He needs to go somewhere that makes him happy and use him correctly. Didn't Vince cool off on him because he couldn't cut promos in a southern accent?

I've never particularly been a fan of his, but I'm so happy to see that he has his release. He's been asking for it for ages and it's really only spite that saw it refused. Good for him—I hope that wherever he ends up, he's happy.
