Around 1993, the future WWE and USWA had an Invasion storyline ringthedamnbell.wordpress.com/2014/06/26/north-vs-south-the-invasion-storyline-you-never-heard-of/I never lived in Tennessee but I do remember this feud happening because I read the Apter magazines. I was astonished when WWE good guys would be bad guys on the other promotion’s TV show and vice versa. It’s been said that WWE didn’t mention this in their media but in the January 1994 WWE Magazine they had the 1993 Dubious Acheivement Awards ariticle and one of the awards has a photo of Vince McMahon on a stamp right next to an Elvis stamp and it says that “Vince makes frequent trips to Memphis.” For those of you who lived in the Memphis area who had access to both WWE programming and USWA programming, that must have been confusing to see say Bret Hart being a good guy on one show and a bad guy on another. It really must have been confusing for those fans who thought that wrestling was real.

What's even weirder is that I watched USWA TV on a regular basis and I don't recall much of it. I do think that the Louisville 60 minute broadcast was edited down and thus they removed most of the Vince stuff as well as the WWF stars! I did have the gist of it with Lawler still being a face in Memphis though.

1993 Memphis TV was the origin of the Mr. McMahon character. He was a pompous douche.

I remember reading about it in the Apter mags and being astonished by what was going on down there. By this point I knew Vince was the actual owner of WWF but to think of Vince as an evil character on TV was crazy at the time. I wanted USWA TV so badly but was finally able to see a lot of this storyline on YouTube about 10 years ago. I'm not sure if it's still there but somebody had made a playlist of what I think was everything that aired on USWA TV between the two companies at the time. I know it's been said that Vince stopped working with USWA because of the Lawler charges that got brought up in late 93. Does anybody know what the endgame was supposed to be for this Feud? How much longer was it supposed to go? It's always been a real interesting storyline to me and the last we saw of it was Vince wearing the USWA championship so it seemed like there was a lot more story to be told.

If anyone wants to watch this, the whole feud/angle is on one of the wrestling compilations on Amazon Prime.

If anyone wants to watch this, the whole feud/angle is on one of the wrestling compilations on Amazon Prime. Thanks for the info. I watched volumes 1 and 2 this weekend. Yikes. I remember hearing about this from the old Apter mags when I was a kid and wondering what it was like. The reality was a far cry from what I had always imagined.
