I feel like that's pretty much the match that killed Dolph's career. It made absolutely no sense for him to lose the belt back there and it really just put a bullet in really ever taking this guy seriously as a threat again after how Miz had spent the entire feud talking about what a choke artist he is just to be proven right.

I'm still awaiting that "killer" Miz match. I think face Miz vs. heel Bryan could have been that, if done right and given the time. I just don't understand how such a great wrestler can't have one single special match, ' could always plan every single move in advance... e: Mr. Ziggles, I could not care less.

I don't think this match did him any favors, but I think the one that really killed him was the Royal Rumble 2015. He was coming off of a great performance at Survivor Series where he was the sole survivor and forced The Authority out of WWE. He was a dark horse to win the rumble or at least have an iron man performance. Many people thought that he was in line for a big push. Instead, he lasted about 30 seconds, got knocked out by Big Show, and the Local Men dumped him over the ropes like a sack of potatoes. Right there, I though that he would never be more than just the midcard title guy or JTTS.

Then Miz flattens him and calls him a loser for what felt like 10 minutes

The Miz/Dolph feud was bad. The whole narrative was jumbled from Ziggler apparently being a choke artist, despite only losing cause Miz kept cheating. It made no sense. Why would this guy ever have to put so much on the line when he had nothing to prove?

It's fun to dunk on Dolph, but that was bullshit. He was able to bounce back and get people to care about him again during that Miz feud, then they did that match/promo and it feels like he hasn't been able to really recover since.

That Ziggler/Miz feud from 2016 was one of the best in recent years..
Up until this match.
The retirement match was great

I might be misremembering but didn’t they book themselves into a corner with Dolph having to retire if he didn’t win the title? Sadly he wasn’t gonna retire so they kinda forced themselves to have him win the title. But it wasn’t about pushing Dolph it was just poor booking and they couldn’t wait to get the title off him.

Because he’s Dolph Ziggler therefore he and the fans can never be happy.I’m not even a Dolph fan and I would have kept the belt on him atleast for a bit because it doesn’t hurt to have portions of the show that your fans enjoy.
