Douglas was good on the mic, had a good look and could work a solid match . But Saturn, Malenko and Benoit Hs that Vanilla midget thing going on. They all got pushes but were also always going to be behind the old regime.
Douglas just didn’t seem like he belonged in that group.

Douglas would've been a horrible mouthpiece for the group. Watching Shane Douglas from the late 90's on in ECW, WCW and TNA and the only he was ever able to do on the mic is put over Shane Douglas. And even then it wasn't very effective outside of ECW. The only knock I have against him is that he couldn't get past the Franchise gimmick. It made sense in ECW because he was a key player, but everywhere else it doesn't.

I would like to believe he would've been a good launch-pad for the other four. Shane had charisma, and some history in the WWE. It might have been a good leader-role for him.
Unfortunately, due to his injury, it took Eddie some time to find his niche in the company, but many forget how good Guerrero was at story-development.
Eddie could've/should've been the group's mouthpiece from the start, especially after his injury, but he just looked lost for the first year in the fed.

He would’ve somehow eventually ended up with the Dudleys, T&A or Bull Buchanan.

I think this brings up another important question: who would have stepped up as store manager at Target had Shane Douglas got brought with the other four?

If the other Radicalz turned on Douglas immediately, it might have worked. Think Sting being ejected from the Four Horsemen.

Looking at it now, I think it's funny we make fun of Shane Douglas for having that job, as it's not really that terrible of a job and I bet he got paid on time. If anything, while he seemed like a douche in the prime of his career, you have to admire that he was actually able to adjust back to normal life after wrestling unlike many others. I believe he is back to teaching now and in recent shoot interviews seems much more humble about his career and other wrestlers than he did in the past.
