I remember hearing that Shane Douglas was originally meant to be joining The Radicalz faction of Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit and Perry Saturn only for the group to leave Douglas in WCW. Considering Shane's habit of causing problems backstage everywhere he went, it shouldn't be surprising.
But, how much would Shane have added to the group if he had come over with them to New York? He was probably the best promo cutter of all of them, so maybe he could've been the mouthpiece of the group considering the only one of the Radicalz really known for his promo skills was Eddie. (maybe Perry, too, considering how over Moppy apparently was? You don't get a gimmick as over as he did without at least some promo skills and charisma)

He would have been lost in the shuffle worse than Saturn and Malenko

I think he probably would have benefited some from his friendship with Foley, and Heyman being on the horizon, sure, but his in-ring work was easily the weakest when compared to the other four guys, and that would have been a problem for him.

I don't think the WWF would have wanted Shane persay, but they would have probably have took him with the others just to stick it too wCw but I can't see him being around massively long

Shane wasn’t the worker that anyone of them were and once you take away his f bombs he wasn’t much at that point promo wise and would have been even worse in the WWE. Combine that with HHH and the Kliq roaming around at random times and he would have been Dean Douglas‘d again in no time.

It's unfair to dismiss Shame's promos as nothing but Fbombs and trashing Flair. If that's all it took to get someone over, ECW wouldn't have ended up so threadbare later in their life.
Shane would have found himself in the same boat as Tazz, jobbing because he's beat to hell and only had a short window before retirement. He'd have been the promo guy for the radicals while Eddie was out, and eat pins for the faction until he either quits, gets fired or retires to commentary duties on a B or C show.

Shane is a well spoken and educated man, he's more than able to cut effective promos without cursing. That being said, With the egos in the wwf at the time, he wouldn't be long for the company anyway because he left on bad terms and if they brought him back, it would have been to screw with him.

He was in the Radicalz. Remember when he won the world title at Wrestlemania 20 and hugged Eddie?

Even if they brought him over with everyone and kept the 5 of them together, you KNOW that he would be the first one they turned heel. Cause WWE would act like no one would see that coming when EVERYONE would

I doubt he was ever considered beyond "hey these guys want to leave WCW.." initial conversations. I would wager in this thread we've discussed it 50x longer then anyone in WWF at the time did.
With the amount of bridge burning he had done he wasn't valuable enough to forgive and forget just to keep him out of WCW as he wasn't going to turn any tide, nor was he going to be a breakout star like Eddie and Benoit or solid workers like Saturn and Malenko. There just was not a spot for the Franchise in 2000 WWF.

At the time, it was reported that the five of them went into things as a group, but when WWF told the other four they didn't want Douglas, just them, they ditched him and signed without him. No idea if that has withstood the test of time though.

Shane would have had a permanent spot on Sunday Night Heat.

I think Douglas had burned bridges with WWF as well and left the first time on bad terms after spending a cup of coffee there with a cutrate Genius gimmick and an "unearned" I-C title blip to transition from Michaels to Ramon.

I could be wrong but I dont think WWF wanted him so if he was to go they all lost out, and they kind of ditched him? Or at least he may have said this at some point (memory is hazy)
Had WWF officials actually liked Douglas then he surefire would have been the mouthpiece of the group, I mean they were a great group without them but they could have been a great force as a five piece as well.
With that said the roster was so stacked Malenko & Saturn would have gotten even further lost behind Eddie/Benoit/Douglas in my opinion.

Douglas would've been a horrible mouthpiece for the group. Watching Shane Douglas from the late 90's on in ECW, WCW and TNA and the only he was ever able to do on the mic is put over Shane Douglas. And even then it wasn't very effective outside of ECW.
