Does anyone think that when Hercules was a face, it was not a good move for him at the time. Think about this. At the time, Hogan was the Champion and was portrayed as stronger than Hercules and you also have the Warrior who I think was portrayed either as strong as Hercules or stronger and his gimmick was that he acted like a wild man. This made Hercules generic and weaker powerhouse so to speak than the other two. I think this made him not special. It’s because of this at the time, Hercules would have been better as a heel. Maybe fans were cheering for him and because of that, WWE had to turn him.

Hercules was always kinda bland in WWF.
WWF did go pretty hard in trying to get him over as a babyface by having Heenan selling him into slavery to The Million Dollar Man and having Savage(who was undisputed champion at the time) & Miss Elizabeth endorse him on The Brother Love Show.Hercules lost steam quickly as a face though as his gimmick was man who swung a chain and his promos stunk.

Really during that first heel run wasn't really anything left for him to do

I liked face Herc. I thought he was cool. But after the Dibiase feud they didn’t do much with him but he was fine as a babyface for me
Power and Glory were underrated to f*** though! I think Roma left but they should have had a push against LOD after winning the belts

He did have any momentum for his face turn

A big part of the problem was that DiBiase won nearly every match of their feud. Herc beat Virgil but never DiBiase himself except for a couple of isolated house shows.
When your babyface turn happens because some evil millionaire tried to ENSLAVE you and then you never get proper revenge in the ring, it's going to leave you looking like a chump.

Too bad he did not win that first Rumble Royal.

It was as good a time for a face turn as any. His heel run had run its course by that point.
Is there any truth to that rumor of him being the third Mega Power? I honestly don't even see where he'd fit in that storyline.

Hercules was one of those random people that I loved as a kid. He was a big strong guy that carried a chain and had cool music. And while he wasn’t a great promo, he had an interesting cadence to his promos that matched his raspy voice.

I honestly don't even see where he'd fit in that storyline. At the 1988 Survivor Series he seemed like the 3rd Mega Power (in comparison to Koko and Jim )

Hercules was always kinda bland in WWF. This. Power and Glory could and should have been the career boost he needed, but they were forgotten about all too quickly. Aside from using the chain on Billy Jack Haynes at WM3, he seemed to do little else of note.

It definitely wasn't a good move for him especially with him losing the Dibiase feud so handily. When you turn face and then promptly lose your first feud, yeah not looking too good for your future. They had him go over Haku afterwards at WrestleMania as a consolation to I guess get revenge on Heenan for selling him to Dibiase but that wasn't really enough.
Problem for Hercules was the babyface side was super stacked when he turned. You had Hogan, Savage, Warrior, Jake, Duggan, and Beefcake all of whom were very over and Hercules wasn't going to get ahead of any of them so at best he was the number 7 babyface. Savage ended up turning heel not much later but then you had Dusty coming in as well as Piper and Snuka returning so that knocked him down to 9th at best and by the end of the year he might have been even lower then that as you could argue guys like Tito and Gavin were ahead of him. Honestly as far guys under contract I would say only Rooster and Koko were below Hercules in the babyface singles pecking order by the end of the year. If anything it seemed like when he turned face he basically took the spot of Muraco, who had just been fired, as underachieving muscle head face who you think would be great but can never get it done. Crush would also end up filling that role years later.

Herc was as good as he was going to be in the late 80s, early 90s, whether it was a face or heel; a lower-mid card guy.
