What was this lameness about? did Ted want to do this to help get himself over as a babyface?
Seemed ridiculous him coming out to I Come From Money as a babyface and grinning like a chesire cat as he skipped down the isle and having announcers talk about tailgate partys like I'm supposed to buy him as a good guy because he's sharing a few hot dogs with fans.

It's kinda like how Heath Slater still comes out to the 3MB theme. It just showed how little they cared about Ted that they couldn't even give him random stock music. In saying that they never gave him a chance with his new character to get over.

I thought DiBiase was a pretty good face in terms of how he carried himself in the ring, but they just gave him nothing at all in regards to a hook as a character. His entire gimmick was told to us instead of shown.

Pretty sure the whole tailgating/connect with the fans thing was closer to the actual Ted DiBiase Jr in temperament and stuff than when he tried to be more like his dad.

Yea, Ted Jr is more down to earth and just never looked comfortable doing the rich snob stuff and having Maryse with him as a valet

Some other, cooler alternate universe got millionaire activist, philanthropist man of the people Ted DiBiase Jr. and Rick Blood, the most vile, hateful man to ever step foot in a wrestling ring with aims on destroying his own father's legacy.

His entire gimmick was told to us instead of shown. I mean that was always his problem. Even during his heel phase... we were told how rich he was... but like he never really did anything to flaunt his wealth. Ted Sr's career was built on Vignettes.

To me Ted lost all momentum as a babyface when they didn't pull the trigger on him in that random match with Orton on Raw, when Randy told him to lay down and he pushed back and got a pop for it, after that no one seemed to care.

When your name is literally the same as your all-time great Dad you’re never going to live up to that.

I really had high expectations of him, and part of me still thinks he could have been more if used in a more interesting way. But the rest of me thinks that other part is totally wrong and he was just never going to be more exciting than buttered toast.

Definitely one of the plethora of "should have struck while the iron was hot" moments in WWE.

When your name is literally the same as your all-time great Dad you’re never going to live up to that. By going his own way, Ted Jr. was adhering to one of the 48 Laws of Power. This Law dictates that you must go in another direction whenever you step into the shoes of a great man. Slay the legacy of the overbearing father and adopt your own style. We see Cody Rhodes doing this to great effect today. See, that's how power works. Adhere to the Laws and power accrues to you; transgress the Laws and power eludes you. Ted Jr. was starting to get over on his own and unfortunately WWE management frowned on that and derailed his momentum.
