When I lived in NJ, I remember when WWE did house show plugs for the Meadowlands Arena. From 1981-1995, the arena was named after former NJ governor Brendan Byrne. During that time, WWE would always call the arena the Meadowlands Arena (up until 2016, this was the arenas alternate name. It became the real name in 2016 when the naming rights agreement with IZOD expired.) When the arena got its first naming rights agreement in 1995 with the now defunct Continental Airlines, Vince and the rest of the WWE began calling the arena by its real name but mistakenly said”Formerly the Meadowlands Arena.” Did Vince being Vince refuse to call the arena by its real name from 1981-1995 due to potential real life hatred with Brendan Byrne or what?
