I still miss All My Children :( That was my mom's joint back in the day. Same, which is how I wound up watching it. We were heartbroken when it was canceled.

Angel getting canceled by The WB simply because Joss Wheeden asked the network to make the obvious renewal early for the benefit of his staff. It’s shitty responses like that which inspires hot shows to get multi-year renewals now.
Fox’s handling of, well, so many shows. Firefly is the most obvious example, though the ending of Married with Children, the main reason the network ever got any real traction, was also pretty bad.

Canceling the Adventures of Brisco County Jr. after only one season was a massive mistake by Fox. The show became cult hit during its rerun on TNT, proving the show just needed a little more exposure to find its audience. And thanks to Fox affiliates, Brisco was being bounced around and sometimes shown at like 10 AM. Brisco got screwed. Had it stuck around for another season, I think it would have found an audience and become a hit. Angel getting canceled by The WB simply because Joss Wheeden asked the network to make the obvious renewal early for the benefit of his staff. Angel, that blame goes to Joss more than the network. Can't believe I'm defending a network. Joss demanded an answer at that moment, and that's not something you really want to say to a network. Honestly, the best thing Joss ever did for Angel, outside of creating it, is that he stayed away from it for so long. He was more focused on Buffy, and Firefly, so Angel was kind of forgotten about by Joss. Joss had assembled a strong team of writers, who had a clear vision for the show, and characters. Firefly was just all around bad handling by Fox. They put it on Fridays, didn't air the 2 hour pilot till it was canceled, and aired the episodes out of order.

That was my mom's joint back in the day. Same, which is how I wound up watching it. We were heartbroken when it was canceled. I grew up on the ABC soaps, and the other networks too. I could keep up when there were 15 soaps. Today I don't care. The ending of As the World Turns still pisses me off.

Hallmark throwing out all the original masters to the Filmation library - including shows like Fat Albert, Shazam, He-Man, and She-Ra - after converting them to PAL format under the assumption that no one in the US market would ever want to see them again. You expect to hear stories like this happening back in the early days of television, but this happened in the "90s.

The BBC deleting a whole bunch of early Doctor Who episodes, including most of the Second Doctor's run. It made sense at the time, it was the late 60's-early 70's and there was no home video market at the time and thus no real reason to keep them but I bet it's a decision they're kicking themselves over to this day.

Many of the Carson Tonight Shows are lost for this same reason. Though one dude, for whatever reason, was super into David Letterman and has a copy of all but 2 of every show Letterman ever did, from his morning show you probably didn't know he did, to Late Night and the Late Show. He has stuff Letterman's team doesn't have and has become the defacto Letterman historian for this reason. He's on Youtube and uplaods shows and compilations and such if anyone is interested, I can shoot you his page.

Most of the Dumont network's output just getting dumped into a river after it's closure.

Dennis Miller calling Monday Night Football, Rush Limbaugh on the highlight show. Yeah, this made zero sense. Like, Rush is known for one thing. It's not like they need to get conservative white men to watch football. Especially before Kap. And unless Dennis was some secret football genius, his obscure references that like maybe 1% of football fans get, were unnecessary.

CBS ever touches Young & The Restless and they get my wrath like Victor's for Jack Abbot!

He's on Youtube and uplaods shows and compilations and such if anyone is interested, I can shoot you his page. And there's been LOTS posted and said about the pain game show fans have felt because of this practice. Major reason why the Woolery Wheel of Fortune eps. are so scarce now (that and Sony's refusal to acknowledge the daytime version at all). Apparently all but one season of the NBC Sale of the Century is gone too (and not just the Jim Perry version!) ABC Password. The original "The" Match Game on NBC. Sometimes it can't be helped, like when a flood wiped out the tapes to the '80s version of Dream House. And on the topic of game shows, CBS and/or Bob Barker holding Price is Right reruns hostage since 2000 or so. OK I get that Bob no longer believes in fur coats nor meat products, and it's cool that he's such a big animal rights supporter. But apparently having a disclaimer before episodes wasn't enough for him. And don't get me started on what's actually petty...his ban on episodes with the former Beauties he fell out with. Think Rod Roddy falls under this as well, even.

- Futurama's first cancellation. Which, interestingly enough, is another FOX animated sitcom that was revived after a home video-only release, like the aforementioned Family Guy.
- Beavis and Butt-Head having an actual solid revival and not being moved to somewhere like Adult Swim after being prematurely cancelled by MTV. Hell, you could argue putting it back on MTV in the first place was a bad decision, considering the main demographic had dramatically changed from the time of the original run.

Wasn't B&B's return supposed to be a one-and-done from the start? Mike Judge decided to end the show's original run in 1997, so I was under the impression the 2011 return was always meant to be a limited run.

Cartoon Network writing off Sym-Biotic Titan, Megas XLR, IGPX, and Beware the Batman so that they effectively never exist and cant be aired (in the US) anymore. However, Sym-Biotic Titan did show up on Netflix recently, so we may have a happy ending to this story.

Nickelodeon passing on a sixth season of Hey Arnold after they got spooked by the ratings of The Jungle Movie. Hopefully the new Netflix deal gives the revival the chance it needs.
