That crowd seemed like people who heard about Corpus Christi’s reputation as a wrestling city and went “F*** that!”
At worst, they were somewhat into stuff. At best, they were HOT!
Props to them.

Never thought I'd hear a Corpus Crowd hot and invested a whole night but AEW did it, shows how much crowds WANT to be at their shows as opposed to a RAW cowd going there just to sit...

I never realized Corpus Christi had this negative reputation for wrestling. Thought it was always Dallas that was the Texas city where heat goes to die.
But yeah, they were a fun crowd. The Dallas crowd last week was fun, too.

I never realized Corpus Christi had this negative reputation for wrestling. Thought it was always Dallas that was the Texas city where heat goes to die. But yeah, they were a fun crowd. The Dallas crowd last week was fun, too. Dallas, you can’t sell tickets. Corpus will come and sit on their hands. |

Maybe if WWE hadn't stunk up Corpus arenas with actual sabotage programming (the whole reason Corpus became a meme is because they tried to kill Zack Ryder's career with that hideous Kane angle), they might not have been such a dead crowd.

I have this rant brewing that the sabotage of Zack Ryder was the straw that broke the fandom's ability to invest unironically in anyone's push, and I think that that is a very important piece. |

Any idea what the attendance was like there tonight? I took a look at Ticketmaster 2 hours before the show and they were acting like it was all sold out, but yesterday there were a ton of upper deck seats.

It helping that AEW has yet put on a shit show. All there shows have been solid to great. Raw and Smackdown been most of the year being horrible which likely hard to get into a show right away and when things during the show isn't good, hard to pop for anything. AEW example started right off with a very good tag match a ton of action out of the gate. WWE just doesn't do that. It been mostly some promo segment that kills the excitement. WWE should mix it up with matching starting the show. |

In 2019, New Japan in Dallas and AEW in Corpus Christi have both proven that long-thought-dead Texas crowds are actually very much alive, they just need someone to put in front of them a show worth a damn.

I remember groaning when the Corpus Christi date was announced. Last night was a pleasant surprise. That crowd made more noise in one match than they have in the past several years of WWE going there. Good job, Corpus Christi. See, we DO react. You just have to get us invested.
