They did show the AEW Christmas commercial during the movie, so they at least got their name out there to any casuals or lapsed fans. Our family has the Christmas Story marathon on in the background for almost the whole time it’s on and they advertised the hell out of AEW. I’m curious to see if that helps them this week. I can see how people can dislike A Christmas Story, but I like it. It has its own weird charm and the structure of the movie as a month in the life of a kid at Christmas is perfectly suited for a all day marathon. You can check in an out throughout the day and still get most of the scenes. As I said, our family has had the marathon on in the background at Christmas for years, yet I don’t think I actually watched the movie from beginning to end until a year or two ago. I knew all the scenes of the movie but I didn’t know exactly what order they went in. It’s as much a coming of age story as it is a Christmas movie.

I think it goes along with what I said above about the chaotic realism of so many intertwining storylines at once. Also, interesting observation about it being a movie you can watch by simply checking in & out throughout the day (and some Christmases, I have done just that). Of course, I think a movie has to be structured just right for that to work, & it doesn’t work for all movies. I remember one Christmas, when whichever network had the rights to Elf at the time (I think USA) tried running a competing all-day marathon of that movie. Interestingly, even though Elf is still a stalwart that gets played plenty during the Christmas season, that particular programming stunt has never been repeated.

Anyone who thinks AEW is being buried by TNT is probably wrong, since they do hype the hell out of it, even having their NBA commentators do promo reads for Dynamite or whatever PPV is upcoming.

I guess people are comparing to the FOX deal with SD!. Because AEW as far as I know has been treated as any promising new TV show.No one expect TNT to treat AEW as if it will bring a complete new level of viewers to TNT

Even at its worst ratings, TNT's expectations for AEW have been exceeded. They were hoping for the show to be a sleeper hit and I'd say it's a bit more than that. And they didn't give AEW its deal just to bury them. And not giving into all of AEW's requests doesn't mean they're burying them either.

I don’t watch a huge amount of TNT, or TBS for that matter. But on the occasions that I have in recent months, both networks seem to be running a good amount of promos for AEW. They’re definitely not burying it.

Their initial huge rating was over double what they expected and they're still ahead of their projections.
