I always hear stories about how you have to “have balls” and “be a man” when it comes to Vince. Well, this story proves otherwise. If I’m working in that company, I’d keep my distance at all times. This man would be the type of bloke who would probably fire you for approaching him and then also fire you for not approaching him. I can’t think of anything more toxic than working in an environment like that, where you’re constantly on your toes and guessing what mood your boss is in and what effect it will have on your life. "Achoo!" Vince:"Did I just hear someone SNEEZE in the ring?!" *5 minutes later* "Negan, you're.....FIIIIRRRREDDDDDDD!"

Certainly an over-reaction, but to do something so stupid to an irrational egocentric like Vince, you are a f***ing moron. ...but then you're supposed to "treat him like one of the guys!" and don't be afraid of him and have a spine etc etc. Don't do what Johnny Don't doesn't, got it

Dumb, yes. But Vince’s insane overreaction was far dumber.

Dunce move by Titus. Law of Power #1: Never Outshine The Master. The master must be made to feel comfortably superior. Never think that just because the master loves you that you can do anything you want to. When in the presence of kings and queens, stay in the background.

Titus was dumb, but Vince is psychotic.
Remember, the suspension was what Trips managed to bargain it down to. Vince wanted to FIRE him.

Titus was stupid to do it. But that still doesn't mean that he should've nearly been fired.

Titus does something stupid that he shouldn't have done but ultimately wasn't that big of a deal...so he should be fired or given a lengthy suspension?
Um, nah.
Vince being a crazy hypocrite again.

Maybe he sensed a potential tripping hazard, and chose to protect his boss at the expense of his daughter?
As much as I tease Titus, he should have quit. He is one of WWE's best good-will ambassadors, and Vince needed to slow his old ass down. Vince being upset one of his meal-tickets had to leave something they loved, so he probably was very emotional, but jeezus(!)
I'm sure Titus struggled over it. At least HHH and Joey realize the value in human decency.

I don’t mind Vince’s initial response. He went overboard with the suspension and possible firing, but unless Titus was really close to Vince (which he clearly wasn’t/isn’t), he should not have done that even if it was playful. People react to touching/grabbing differently.
With that said, I agree 100% that Titus should have quit, but if he’s willing to be made a fool of for the check, then I guess I can’t fault him.

Titus was stupid for grabbing someone who wasn't expecting it, Vince was stupid for how he overreacted

What is most weird about it, is VInce was smiling at first, and then just seemed to go crazy about it for some reason.
This is especially weird, because if you look behind the scenes videos during the 90's, there are a ton of videos of people joking playing around with Vince, and having it be fine. There is a video of Scott Hall playing around with his hair from like '93, and Vince is just laughing his butt off.
He clearly was not always insane.

I think in the moment, Vince can be excused. I think any performer that gets grabbed or touched from behind when they're not expecting it automatically reacts as though it might be a fan that jumped the rail and their reflex instinct is to wheel around swinging. Now, wanting to fire him and suspending him? That could have been a simple yet very firm "NEVER do that again, ok?" conversation. But, in that situation, if a fan was going for Vince, wouldn't all the wrestlers also there just gang up on the fan? You had a fan attack Bret Hart and Natalya at the HoF ceremony. Anything can happen.

Batista was right, Titus should've quit.
Only good that's come of it is being able to continue his charitable work with the WWE spotlight enhancing it.....which is a helluva good, of course, but it also makes that company look good by association and I don't think they really deserve that.

Vince was obviously very upset in the moment. It's hard to explain because people still think he hates Daniel Bryan, despite the fact he's pushed him for 10 years.
That said, it was bizarre, but when you're in front of 50 employees you have to show dominance.

I’m pretty sure it’s very common knowledge how close Bryan and Vince actually are (hence the sheer amount of freedom Bryan seems to have), and Bryan was one of Vince’s favourite performers for such a long time. So yeah Vince would’ve been in quite the state at that time.

Vince has probably always been insecure about his personal safety around the boys. Hence why he massively overcompensated by bulking up.
This is no doubt an overreaction but probably a hangover from the days where he probably was intimated or challenged before he came the all powerful psychopath he is today.
Given his childhood maybe he has a complete aversion to any kind of unwanted or unexpected touching.
Maybe he genuinely thought Titus was trying to challenge him?

Look at the original thread. People were saying Titus should have faced assault charges. I was one of the few saying it was an overreaction by Vince. But people by and large wanted him fired on the spot.
Now though? With distance and time, people have calmed down.
