A lot of negativity around this for a bunch of reasons. I don't personally like it, but I am curious to hear if people on here do, and why?

The situation is really unfortunate because all of the love they had as the Super Smash Brothers seems to be gone due to how bad this gimmick has been.

I think the gimmick is great. They were consistently getting over by the climax of their matches, and the vignettes were fantastic and solidified their motivations.
Plus, I have a friend who might get a ticket to her first show after not being able to get enough Dark Order vignettes. Gotta love them for that.
I maintain that the main issue (on their end) was rocketing them from vignettes to main event angle without testing the waters in between.

I love them. The new take on the Creepers reminds me of the Foot Clan - one or two you can deal with but when they swarm they're deadly.

As soon as the first vignette aired, I've been on the bandwagon. #JOINDARKORDER

I went from hating them to loving them the moment Evil Uno got a shirt and a mic. I was at the Dec 18th show, and can say that, at least for myself and the people immediately surrounding me, we were reacting with stunned silence rather than apathy. It was a real holy shit moment

For the people who hate Aew, the Dark Order is a very easy target. " haha, a BuncH oF guyS in MAsks! ThEir leaDEr is FAt!" So I wouldn't worry about the negativity. Most of the people giving AEW a fair shake I noticed like the group.

The vignettes have been awesome. Not been too keen on their in ring work yet but we are still really early on in this angle/gimmick and I think it would be a bit ridiculous to write it off without waiting to see where it goes a bit.

I've been a really big fan of the Super Smash Bros on the indies and it was disheartening to see the backlash when they first showed up; but I was so happy to see them finally getting the cult like vignettes and the commercials that flat out talked to one specific person. That was great and, honestly, I think if they keep going with that, it'll be great.
But, AEW, why did you instantly shoot the Dark Order to the main event without trying at something less high profile, put them in the tag team scene to see the crowd reception and build from there.

It was a real holy shit moment I can't stress how good Uno looks in that sort of suit, he looks like AEW's answer to the Kingpin or a mob boss, he's been a real underappreciated talent because of how bad the Dark Order gimmick was, but I think Uno's trying his hardest to get people to care and it's starting to pay off.

I see much more love than hate. Most hate I see comes from people that haven't kept up with the changes or willing to give a chance.
I will say they could have used some wins instead of going straight up to attacking the top,but aint a big deal.
But yeh they are really good and the gimmick is becoming awesome

The problem at the end of the day is that it's such a dead end act. Let's review: A midcard at best tag team is recruiting the jobbers of AEW and society in general to become masked lackeys. And the main event guys in the company are supposed to sell for these guys why? The best use of them was stuff like Luchasaurus destroying the various Creepers.
I'm terrified they'll put the tag belts on them. The basis of whatever fame the Super Smash Bros. had was feuding with the Bucks, right? Gotta think they need a transition champ to get the belts on the Bucks at some point, and the only heel team that makes any sense is Dark Order.

I maintain that the main issue (on their end) was rocketing them from vignettes to main event angle without testing the waters in between. It was actually in reverse: they threw them directly into the main event at All Out (and gave them a bye in the Tag Tournament) before scaling them back a few weeks into vignettes and then putting them right back to where they were at the beginning. Had they paced themselves and just had Uno and Grayson slowly recruit the lower card guys over the next few months, advertising their vignettes, to the point where the losers suddenly had strength in numbers, it would've been far more effective IMO.

Most of the people giving AEW a fair shake I noticed like the group. While I do agree that Dark Order is an easy target, I would also argue that all hardcore AEW supporters aren't exactly in love with the group either. Hell, Dave Meltzer shit on it and I think it goes without saying that he's an AEW supporter. I'm someone who would love for AEW to get to WCW-levels of kicking WWE's ass and I think the gimmick is awful and not at all what I thought AEW was going to be. I've said it in other threads, but if you're a causal fan, that Dark Order nonsense is just going to make you change the channel. Look at the way both shows ended last Wednesday. Rhea Ripley's celebration vs. fat guys in body suits and masks following around another fat guy in a mask doing spooky laughs, cheesy dialogue, and ripping out a dude's tongue (I guess that was the insinuation?). I get that some people like it and I respect that, but that shouldn't be a main event gimmick in your company if you're wanting to compete with WWE.

They're fantastic. The cult recruiting members of the roster is something that hasn't been done in 20 odd years in a major promotion, the promos and vignettes are brilliant, and Uno and Stu are great in the ring as well. They've polished their presentation, and I'm always looking forward to seeing what they do next.

Not gonna touch on the most of it,you gonna say what you think is wrong and whatever it is no use debating that, but Meltzer isn't an AEW supporter he is a supporter of the type of wrestling he likes, like many people,if anything Bryan is the AEW supporter of the two and even then it is mostly because he think there is more story than NXT.

Facing the young bucks is not nearly the reason, they were popular before the Young Bucks were the Young Bucks. They are top talent tag team since the Chikara Days for having charisma and chemistry in-ring. Their PWG run may have given a more serious edge to then compared to Chikara but the bucks werent the only team there

Good idea, but the execution is kind of a mess, they never should have appeared in a match before their debut vignettes, it was kind of like how Smackdown bungled developmental callups back in the day. I'm iffy on the army of cannonfodder followers after the NWO, but I'm interested enough to see where it's going.

Yeah, they’ve improved a shit load in presentation over time in AEW.
If I had any criticism it’d be to make the creepers more monotone in nature as opposed to like the Putty Patrol from Power Rangers. And they need an Ace. Someone that can talk and is physically menacing.
