Quite enjoyable, if a bit silly.

I remember and I know it made it to TV when Matanza killed Azteca Jr throwing him into the abyss of the bleachers there is a moment before where he grabs a guy and just shoves him into the wall....that guy is a fellow wrestler by the name of Tye Matthews but he said he had no idea that Matanza was gonna just chuck him aside like that lol. I'm going to have to rewatch that at some point. Now that I hear who that was, I'm a little disappointed that we didn't get Hyperoptimism in the Temple at some point. Prob'ly would've fit in pretty well with the Rabbits.

I’m still holding out hope that they release at least one more issue of their comic book as a way of giving the series a proper ending.

Binge watching this on Tubi. I am digging this. Currently on Episode 10 from season 1. Great debut from Cage, never really seen him wrestle aside from clips here and there.

Lots of startup wrestling companies, AEW included, talk about their desire to do something different. Lucha Underground might be the only one that actually did. LU was very clear that they were NOT a real sport or an athletic contest. Time travel, cursed relics, evil ancient gods, mind control, zombies, murder... LU was an intricately plotted science fiction series with the action scenes performed in front of a live audience. And it was awesome. It’s basically as close to a live action Mortal Kombat without being actually Mortal Kombat.

You have officially reached the point where LU really starts to become LU and becomes amazing. Those first 8 episodes are really them searching out their identity.
