British preferably. Irish is fine. Australian, Canadian or NZ perhaps. American is out of the question. British actors put on American accents to play Batman, Superman, Rick Grimes, etc. Why can't an American put on an English accent to play Bond? With the characters you listed, being American isn’t really a part of their character. Bond is possibly the most famous British movie character ever, people would have trouble with a non-British Isles actor playing. That and American actors don’t have the best track record at doing English accents. Spinal Tap is still the exception.

Rick, and Bats not nearly as much.

"Truth, Justice and the American way." - Superman For the record, IDGAF about any accent talk and have no problem with a non-American putting on an accent to play the character, but Superman is essentially a representation of America.

That’s why he doesn’t need a passport to travel anywhere! Seriously, if Metropolis was based on London, Paris or New York it wouldn’t make much difference.

Batman and Superman's best portrayals have been by Americans (Keaton and Reeve). I don't know who the other dude is.

On-topic, I think a more apt comparison would be a Brit playing Captain America.

I think all of this “he needs to be white” stuff is nonsense, but he does need to be British. The British government is high on inclusion, so realistically, the next Bond should be Polish. polakk , tusen takk (that rhymes , lol)

Batman being a guy he accidentally lobbed a cricket bat through as a kid sure is something.
