I get settlement building isn’t for everybody but I enjoyed it and got caught up in it.
I think it’s a great game just lacks the “big world” feeling of games like Skyrim or the previous two Fallout games

I spent so long collecting power cores for my suit so that I never had to worry about running out that I lost interest in finishing even the main story. What I did play was crap anyway. Outer worlds was better. Anyone else have had that bug where your stuff disappears from your locker forever? I did not notice the disappearance in time to start a backup save. I was so pissed that ALL my power cores that I had put my well earned money (usually just quickly sold all my junk and bought 'em) were gone before I had a chance to use them. I also usually like to collect lots of non needed stuff in these games just for the habit of looting and those were gone too. After that, I haven't even thought about collecting anything ever. Feels like a waste of time. I've been as pissed about a game last time when I was a young boy. That was while playing GTA Vice City: my bullet proof car and that motorcycle were gone from my carage.

Gonna be starting tomorrow. Thanks, sometimes you just need a lil' push. \o/

It's not amazing but it is underrated. I enjoyed my time with it so much that I got a platinum trophy for it.

It's not bad. Just not as good as Fallout 3 or New Vegas.

Well finished Far Harbor
Was alright as well though one mission towards the end made me realise something. It was the great hunt mission and the tone of it was amazing and made me wish saw more of that in the main game though the in sheep’s clothing mission that popped up once I came back to mainland was a nice little end too
Now that I’ve played this as much as I’m going to, maybe I’ll start a thread for my next game. Think it’s a small one........Assassins Creed Odyssey?

I've been really getting back into this lately. Fallout 4 certainly has its issues – the biggest being the railroady storyline – but man it is definitely the most fun of the series for me to sit down and play. My latest run has been a run concentrating on survival and settlement building, trying to play my minuteman general as a sort of Rick Grimes last survivor trying to his hardest to unite communities at the end of the world. A lot of neat little weapon mods have helped with this but also:
Sim Settlements: So, I have wanted to do a thing where I really dig into the settlement system but I find the actual act of building settlements so goddamn tedious. Sim Settlements rules because it builds plots that your settlers will build up themselves over time. Like, if you make a residential plot? They'll build housing and stuff. Agriculture will get you a farm of some kind. Commercial gets you a store or bar. But what's interesting is the sort of randomness that develops, you don't know exactly what you're going to get when you build a plot and provide them resources. It's exciting to see.
Sim Settlements: Rise of the Commonwealth: ...But you still gotta build those goddamn plots right? And I didn't want to do that. That's not who my current character is! He's a loner thrust into a life as a leader, he's not going to be hanging out in sanctuary hammering out a garden all day. ROTC is cool because it lets you elect leaders to settlements and THEY lay out all the plotting and stuff, while also providing you tax money and resources from the citizens. So, for instance, my home base right now is Sanctuary. I set Codsworth as the leader and I've been providing them resources and chems to slowly build the community up. The progress has been incredible. Sanctuary has slowly developed into a giant, walled off community full of stores and citizens. It even has a police station! And it did it totally organically.
APC Transport: So, as much as I like Survival mode going all or nothing on Fast Travel is a little dumb. The game just isn't built for it especially with the sort of gameplay I'm doing. APC Transport provides a fast travel alternative in the form of an APC that can move you to various points on the map. What's cool about it is that it's pretty immersive. It requires fuel (Nuclear material, oil or coolant. Up to the player). It suffers engine breakdowns and tire damage. It's limited to settlements or major cities, which I love, because it leads to a happy medium where I have to do some exploring but if I want to go from Diamond City to Sanctuary I don't have to tediously make the same trip I've made a hundred times. But at the same time, if I take my APC to like...the edge of the glowing sea and then the engine breaks down? I've got to scavenge for parts to make those engine repairs and it adds an unpredictability to my adventures.
Basically, I love the damn game. I've gone as far as Diamond City to pick up Piper but overwhelmingly I've been spending most of my time in the northern part of the map slowly building up Sanctuary and Starlight Drive-In to be my two major cities. Eventually they'll be supported by the network of smaller farms around them.

Also like the goody two shoes comment. When I got GamePass and downloaded The Outer Worlds, my plan was to play the game as a complete evil asshole. Like, 20 minutes in I found myself taking it easy on NPCs. Playing as an asshole actively ruins the experience of a game for me. I simply can't do it.
