Beginning October 1, 2020, every traveler must present a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, state-issued enhanced driver’s license, or other acceptable forms of identification, such as a valid passport or U.S. military ID, to fly within the U.S. Review the complete list of acceptable identification.

Probably partially a scam to get more money and to cut down on out of date ID photos. I’ll eventually get one, but I always bring my passport anyways.

If you already have a passport, this doesn't change much of anything. Just means you'll have to bring your passport for domestic flights as well as international ones. But Real ID also isn't exactly widespread yet, so this could be a pain in the ass for domestic travel if your state hasn't rolled it out yet.

Never even heard of Real ID, but seeing as I've only flown twice in my entire life, I doubt it'll have much effect on me.

Nevada does pretty frequent renewals on driver's license photos (every four years, and you can only reuse a photo once), so I had gotten one years ago.

I've flown twice in my life, but when it came time to renew my driver's licence, I sprung the extra 30 bucks or so for the Real ID one, 'cuz you never know.

More security theatre.

It makes things more frustrating for the average person but it makes Bill in Podunk who likely never will visit an airport feel safe there won't be a terrorist attack so that's all that matters.

The easy part is any update in identification is automatically updated for the requirements but people in general don't like visiting their bureau or department of motor vehicles for any reason.

I'm done with flying. You pay hundreds of dollars to be crammed into a seat with hardly any leg room, they charge for your meal, they charge you for a neck pillow, and they charge you for earphones. That's not enough because now you need to get a new driver's license with a Real ID to prove who you are because your old driver's license doesn't prove who you are enough.
