This has seemingly been a case for much of Dynamite, but last night was no exception. The sound leveling was awful, particularly with the backstage interviews, making some come off as hard to hear all that well.

It's been a on going issue since day one. One week you count hear the entrance music. Next was the announcers. The have money but the audio production as been horrible and need to get better people on that team.

Tony Khan should be able to afford decent audio/pyro/tube guys, Scrooge should probably take some lessons from Glomgold for once.

Pretty much everything that went wrong last night is the job of one guy. His job is to balance out the audio levels between audio channels. The way it was going, it's completely clear whoever was doing it either is not listening to his own work directly (working with his headphones down for whatever reason) or he has literally never done it before and doesn't know what he should be switching to when.
He should be fired really. That was awful.

Was this an issue on other versions of the broadcast? I know a couple of weeks ago there were technical issues on TNT's end while the international broadcasts were fine. But yeah, audio's been a mixed bag since Double or Nothing. Some weeks you think they get it, but others they revert back to the same problems.

It's been months and they can't get this shit in order.
Whoever is in charge of sound for AEW should be fired publicly.

Audio's been a constant issue since the first episode of Dynamite. It's been months, one would think that they'd have narrowed the problem down and gotten rid of whoever keeps messing it up by now.
Strangely enough, Dark's always been fine to me.

It's less prominant varying on the show but they really need to get this sorted. I love the idea of backstage promos happening more often, but that sound leveling is dire
They need to find out who is screwing up and getting a better audio guy, at this point whoever keeps screwing up has been given plenty of chances not to.

The fact that a lot of their audio issues happen with pre-taped segments is even worse. Like, it's not the worst I've ever heard (watch TNA's weekly PPV era shows if you wanna hear what horrendous audio editing truly sounds like. They literally had Roddy Piper cut a promo outside during a windstorm without a boom mic or anything.), but it's still just...dudes, edit this shit.

I don't know their equipment but I'm assuming that it's a Tricaster or a similiar setup. This means that they are using a mixer live in the arena and then feeding that to the switcher which then sends it to air as well as feeding the arena. That's not even getting into any off-board sound processing they want to do. Plus, you have to worry about any video looking like it needs to be in sync in the arena. The larger your arena the more likely it looks to be off sync. That is the bare minimum that we are looking at to get sound.
The problem is that sound is the area that is the first to be cut if the budgets are too high. So, it's possible that their sound crew has said when need a bunch of things for this to work properly and the producers said no to their request and told them to give them the bare minimum they needed to get sound to air. The crew may have done a whole buncha patch and scratching to get it to work on a minimum budget being well aware that their workarounds are going to eventually fail or be very inconsistent. In short, they're working their bugs out live on-air.
The WWE has had literally decades of experience in doing this so their stuff is 98 percent of the time amazing and slick. AEW will get there but I'd guarantee this will continue for at least another six months while they find a balance between budget and proper broadcasting.

What pissed me off was that it was quite obvious to me that they were f***ing up hugely. So, the theme music was cued up and started playing OVER Luchasaurus' promo, completely drowning out everything he said after Jungle Boy finished speaking and Marko tried to weirdly hug the interviewer. We then cut back to the arena, theme still playing....back to a promo, THEME IS STILL f***ING PLAYING. It's playing over the backstage promo, they manage to dim the theme down some, but you can barely hear the backstage audio and then, I swear to f***ing god, they SWITCHED TO THE ARENA AUDIO. The audio we got briefly for the backstage segment was the audio of it playing through the arena speakers to the live crowd, echo and all. Then, FINALLY they got on the correct audio channel half-way through the segment...and f***ing dimmed the audio too early at the end again.
