Steve Austin. His run in 2002 was pretty stale and he seemed pretty out of place, but when he retired he was still an icon and massively over. I don't know if he's technically retired, but I'd definitely say The Rock as well. William Regal is retired, right? He was great all the way to his last run. Well technically Austin was forced to retire The Rock is retired Regal is retired. I believe his neck or some type of injury was basically the nail and over the years he's had health issues. Even then, he was still essentially retired a few years ago as he rarely had matches unless to put someone over in NXT which I want to say Ohno was one and I forget the other Regal had major neck surgery, he has a bunch of screws in there now. But he last matches where still good, I believe you are right that Ohno was his last.

Regal had Cesaro in one his last matches.
And his promo for it was perfect.
The last* of his generation of great workers knowing he's about to see his kind go extinct and ready to go down on his shield.
*Jericho is a freak and doesn't count.

Jericho is what happens when you have a very talented guy who is actually allowed (and willing to take) long periods of rest.

Bothe Edge and Christian.
It's a damn shame they had to retire because of injuries, but they never became parodies of what they once were.

Regal debuted seven years earlier.

Jack Brisco. Was still a top player in the tag department when he went to WWF with Gerald. Was there for a short time, didn't care for the hectic schedule and while in an airport headed to his next show, he instead got on one home to Florida and never wrestled again.

Surprised no one has mentioned Pete Gas yet. After he left WWF, he spent minimal time in the Indies. He's never tried to do a nostalgic run other then a 2007 one off on RAW. He did have an appearance on the Edge and Christian show as well.
The dude knew his time at the top in wrestling was up so he moved on to other things. I personally think he could do a short run in NXT to put over younger talent kinda like Rhyno did.

I forgot he had this match too, I knew it was one of the former kings of wrestling tag team.

Christian, though the same could be said for many who retired due to injury.

Lance Storm. Even though much like Dean Malenko it's debatable since he had a gimmick similar to Double Ho Seven and was doing the Cabbage Patch in the ring with random women with Val Venis I believe. In ring he was still great though as proven by later matches with Chris Jericho and Bryan Danielson.

Val Venis quietly bowed out of the industry to become a cannabis sellsman.

I have a feeling that when Dustin Rhodes hangs up the boots, he will be included in a thread like this.
Dude had arguably the match of the year like 30-some years after he debuted, I don't see him being bad in the ring anytime soon.
Granted, there was his bad TNA run, but since he cleaned himself up I almost think the past decade has totally negated that era.

I saw it on YouTube a few years ago and Ambrose finished Regal off with his own Knee Trembler finisher. I believe Regal even did a stretcher job. I could be wrong but either way I really enjoyed the Regal / Ambrose stuff that I saw.
