Really the only match on that original card that'd have been appealing at all would be Reigns/Ambrose and I have to wonder how they would have made that work since the Shield was still intact at that point. I'll be the guy that says this, Bryan and Sheamus did have show stealing potential if it had actually happened, with Sheamus reinvigorated as a heel and Bryan being obscenly over for a guy not in a main event position. The two have always have great matches when they actually got the chance to do so without any bullshit, but with only a couple exceptions (Extreme Rules 2013, and the one free TV they had going into Money in the Bank 2013), they got bullshit every time.

Jeeesus this would have been a bad show. Thank f*** that Punk left when he did. Part of me still thinks that they would have added Bryan to that world title match anyway even if Punk had stayed. This draft card was before Rumble, right? This is before they really got an idea of how much people were going to reject the Batista return on an "every crowd" level, not just on a "perpetually angry internet types" level. That wasn't going to change in this alternate timeline. I think the only difference would have been that the Bryan/Triple H match that allowed Bryan into the title match would have happened on RAW, and Punk interference would have factored into it to build towards that match instead of Bryan just winning clean. I know there's "Because WWE" and all, but what happened happened and what didn't happen didn't.

It sucks that Punk left, but HHH vs. a banged up and unmotivated Punk wouldn't have even been half as good as HHH vs. Bryan was.

That card... I was actually at that RAW. And I was the only one who booed him.

I'm very surprised by the lack of Rollins in the original plans

Yeah, I hated Hogan LONG before that. I always thought he was an egotistical ass. What gave the GIF location away for me was the (barely visible) Shopko sign in the top right corner. Before they went under, they were one of the sponsors at the Resch Center (and also had the naming rights to the now-torn down Shopko Hall, which had hosted a couple of NXT house shows). Also, the Resch has (or had; I didn't think to look last year when Judas Priest was there) small banners with the names of every Horizon League team (including the UW-Green Bay Phoenix) along the top of the nosebleeds on one side. And that camera angle is aimed right at that side, where my mom and I were both sitting. You can't see us, sadly. We were way too far back to be clearly visible.

That card... Hogan being reminded of that sex tape with Bubba The Love Sponge's wife right in front of everyone with that sign. About the leaked original WM 30 card: That looked shitty and would have likely driven a lot of fans away even sooner than now. Good thing it was changed.

Really the only match on that original card that'd have been appealing at all would be Reigns/Ambrose and I have to wonder how they would have made that work since the Shield was still intact at that point. Early January, they were still planning on breaking them up by WM30. This was also the year that Dean attempted to or did (i forget) eliminate Roman. They later played it up with Dean doing a joking... what it's every man for himself right?!

That wasn't going to change in this alternate timeline. I'm inclined to think this too, because fans would've still been angry that D-Bry wasn't even in the Rumble. In fact, fans were voicing their displeasure over such while Punk was still in the company (writhing on the arena floor in fact, after that chokeslam.) Maybe Sheamus is given the Andre win as a make-good. (Also, no ATGMBR? I wonder when they actually conceived that idea then.)

And this is while NXT is gaining traction with Paige and Emma doing strong work, so it would have been even more glaring.

Batista vs Orton would’ve been the most braindead decision ever
And this is coming from a big Batista fan.
You can’t possibly ignore Bryan or even Punk in 2014.
Come on Vince.

Good to see that Vince has learned a lesson since 2014.
That lesson was “stop planning PPV cards ahead of time” but still
