www.tubefilter.com/2020/01/06/2019-wwe-youtube-profits/This article estimates that WWE only made $13 million in 2019 from ads running on the WWE YouTube channel. By comparison, they are going to make $205 million from Fox for SD this year, plus $265 million from NBC Universal for Raw.

It's why all the arguments about how many YouTube views the Rusev-Lana stuff gets is ridiculous.

It's why all the arguments about how many YouTube views the Rusev-Lana stuff gets is ridiculous. I think it is more because of "viewer engagement" but it really depend on the reasoning. Like how people try to justify a large dislike rate is a good thing because the heel is doing their work(like all adding Charlotte to th WM match and Brock beating Kofi).

$13 million in profit in a year is actually really good for Youtube ads. But it also shows why major sports organizations are only going to see Youtube as a bonus revenue stream.
We also don't know how much of the money they make from TV deals is outright profit versus gross revenue.

We also don't know how much of the money they make from TV deals is outright profit versus gross revenue. I wonder how much of that is due to reused content and how much is original content? I admit to watching highlights and matches.

It's why all the arguments about how many YouTube views the Rusev-Lana stuff gets is ridiculous. Youtube views can be used as a baromoter to see how engaged people are with certain segments, but yeah they will never be a major source of revenue. TV is where their bread is buttered.

Didn't youtube take a machete to the amount of money wrestling content gets on the site over the past few years? Understandable that the number is so low, wrestling can't compete with high class entertainment like rich menchildren yelling slurs over videogames.

Understandable that the number is so low, wrestling can't compete with high class entertainment like rich menchildren yelling slurs over videogames. It killed off any viability in using Youtube for promotions, which is why any that are doing the freely accessible online thing have settled in on twitch instead. I believe it's possibly WWE only makes money on the videos that contain no actual wrestling to them.
