Purely kayfabe -
Two men who are the final bosses of their promotions. The longest reigning IWGP champ and the longest reigning Universal champ. The ace of New Japan vs WWE's unbeatable monster. Both barely lose. Both men's tenures on top started around the middle of the decade.
WWE and NJPW decide to host a clash card. Lesnar vs Okada is the main event. Purely treating wrestling as a real sport, who wins? And how do you see the match going down?

Ignoring politics and booking etc? I don't follow NJPW outside of wrestle kingdoms but I'd say Okada wins after 2137 finisher kickouts.

Pfft Brock Lesnar never lost the IWGP title, how many times has Okada lost it?
Both are god-tier generational talents, and the match could easily go either way. Lesnar has his MMA experience, but Okada has roughly the same amount of professional wrestling experience as Lesnar despite being 10 years younger, and is no slouch when it comes to defending against MMA style offense just due to the nature of the wrestling style in NJPW and the dojo.
The longer the match goes the more it favors Okada.
In a series of matches I could see Lesnar getting a quick win with a surprise F-5 or kimura lock in their first encounter. Once Okada figures out his defense against Lesnar's explosive finishers and can drag the match past 20 minutes, Okada will win.

Better performer - Okada, easily. Shoot fight - Brock, easily.

I take kayfabe here as treating both professional wrestling and mixed martial arts as legitimate combat sports and not considering backstage politics or booking questions. Because if we're talking about a shoot fight of course the actual professional fighting former champion wins.

You're gonna tell me that Okada doesn't know about Brock's greatest weakness? The man has spent enough time as a heel to know that the only way to get any damage in on Brock is you gotta punch him right in the bawls first.
He's like a Z Putty.

Okada has beaten Tanahashi. Brock fears Tanahashi. The match would never happen due to how much more Brock would fear Okada.

Neither wins because Brock is indestructible and Okada can kick out of 8 million finishers.

i'll say brock by a hair. lesnar has fought a lot of smaller guys in the past. okada hasn't fought that many with brock's size/power so I think that might be enough for brock to pull it off. now if we're talking 2 out of 3 falls then okada because he has the gas tank to wear brock down in the end and okada is more adapatable to adjust to brock's size given time I feel. but the question was for one match. so going with brock.

Seth Rollins beat Lesnar. Okada would murder him.

Going with Okada. He's in the prime of his career and it's not like he's a small guy himself. Lesnar weighs more, but Okada's a heavyweight in his own right.

Right, Okada is 6'3, the same height as Lesnar according to wikipedia Lesnar obviously has a weight/strength advantage, but Okada isn't a little guy. Okada usually has the size advantage I think. Who is larger than him in NJPW, Big Luck Fale and Lance Archer?

Okada isn't a small guy. I've seen him wrestle live and he's pretty tall, I'd say at least 6ft 2 or 3. He's not as big as Brock but yeah, I've seen a few guys assume Okada is small and I'm not sure why.

You can look at a photo of Okada vs. Marty to see how he looks against someone close to the average adult male height and see that he's pretty tall (especially since they did a lot of staredowns with Marty's head pointed upwards to emphasize the size disparity due to the storyline), but you generally won't see him against someone he'll outweigh by more than 30 lbs.

Brock Lesnar lost clean in minutes to an 50 year old man that has been retired for more than a decade
