First and foremost if you don't listen to the New Day podcast you should, it is insightful and they tell you the struggle they had to go through to "make it" and they really don't pull back punches including digging on "he who shall not be named" (Vince) multiple times a show
But yeah one thing they talked about recently was the realization they were getting somewhere. When they started to be able to pitch ideas to the writers and have their own input in promos, they knew they made it when it was told Vince looked at the promo and said something to the effect of I don't get it but it works so let them do it
It took them almost two years as a group to finally get that trust. Xavier also talks about how they the trombone with him asking for it and Vince enjoyed it so much that he told to always have it with him every week
