It's kinda... interesting that out of all of them the toyboy girl probably ended up the most successful post-show with her voice work. Really, what role has she had, anything I would know? She's in Family Guy quite a bit.

I remember Cody got arrested in real life for beating his girlfriend or something. I remember looking at his mugshot and finding it surreal.
He was also part of the 90s trope of taking a popular dummy character and trying to add depth to his character for some reason

I just remember that horrible special effect of the water at the end of the opening credits.

It was so 90's. And ripped off popular things from the 90's. Two characters that were literally Bevis and Butt-Head.JT goes to see Wayne's World at the theater, so he decides to rip it off with his own show, "JT's World". Even having "Party Time! Excellent!" as the intro theme. That walks the fine line between parody and plagiarism. I wonder what kind of hand Mike Judge had in this. The thing I must note is that the two guys nailed their performances, especially the guy who was Beavis. I also liked that they had actual shirts of the bands. Like Butt-Head wore an AC/DC tour shirt, while Beavis wore what appeared to be Metallica tour shirt.

THis was a show I never really saw when it was airing on Fridays right? But once it hit syndication we would watch it most days. But never saw that odd final season. Watched the entire run of the show over the course of a year thanks to Hulu. Wow that final season feels like everyone was ready for the show to end.

Lakin has mostly appeared as a guest star on TV shows, but is the most successful in the entertainment industry. Looking at wikipedia, Staci Keanan now works as a deputy district attorney for the Los Angeles County. A bit of trivia, Lakin, Keanan and Patrick Duffy appeared together in the movie You Again.

So is Patrick Duffy related to Julia Duffy? Maybe that is where he got tips on how to do comedy.

It sort of felt like an attempt at a more "realistic" Brady Bunch, given you're doing the two single parents getting together with a set of three kids each, just, mixed in terms of gender.
In any case, I remember liking it alright, though I think of it as kind of a middle of the road family sitcom. There are worse ones, but there's also better.

Cody was the man! Loved him. One night USA or TNT or something played Kickboxer 2, 3, and 4 in a row (all of which starred Sasha Mitchell, who also played Cody), and I squeezed them all onto a VHS tape and watched the shit out of it. I always think of the episode when Frank and Cody kicked ass in a bar fight to save Dana. That episode had the girl that played Marqaux on Punky Brewster Ami Foster is in that episode. The show was shot next door to Family Matters which at the time had Chere Johnson who of course played Chere on Punky Brewster. I wonder if they bumped into each other that day. Still wish Ami Foster would have played that girl that ran against Laura for student body president.

I call my sister-in-law Dana Burger.
My favorite line was when Cody found the Canadian penny, but he could only use it if he went to Canadia.

He was also part of the 90s trope of taking a popular dummy character and trying to add depth to his character for some reason The story about that apparently is that his wife at the time was actually abusing their kids and he would intervene to protect them. His wife at the time was an addict and she would tell the cops that he was abusing her. He is the one that has full custody of their kids while she just has visitation. It seems like a fair number of messed up things happened during this show with the young cast in addition to Cody, Brandon Call once got shot during a traffic dispute and the actress who played Karen had all the money she made during her years acting as a child stolen by her parents.

SBS had one of my favorite exchanges ever on any TV show.
Cody has just finished playing a terrible song he made up about Dana.
Dana: That was the worst song I've ever heard.
Cody, completely unaffected: Wait, you haven't heard this one yet. Immediately starts playing another song.

You know, I never realized before that the oldest daughter from Step by Step was also the girl from My Two Dads. I didn't even watch My Two Dads and I knew that.

Re watched the whole series recently, it’s ok. Not as good as it was when I was a kid in the 90s. There’s actually some pretty cringey moments on the show, but I can’t recall them exactly since I didn’t take notes, I just remember telling myself this moment didn’t stand the test of time, or this moment wouldn’t float in this era.

The youngest boy character pretty much disappeared as he got older if I recall.
And the ratings desperate new kid had the most extreme rapid aging syndrome this side of Nicky Banks.
