Look at Capcom with SFV. After you've bought all the DLC characters, stages etc, you've spent over two hundred dollars on a game that's marketed as fifty bucks. Honestly, outside of DMC5, I've stopped buying Capcom games when they first come out. There's always a major update/Super Champion Edition Turbo EX Plus Alpha for their big games. It's why I waited until Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 came out.

My patience with waiting for SF5 to come out as Championship Edition next month is finally going to pay off. (well that and not having a PS4 until a few weeks ago)

I've decided to add up all the DLC from SFV that I didn't have and what did I get afterword's when I added it all?
Five hundred and Fifty One Dollars. And that's before tax mind you. More than double what I was expecting
That is ludicrous to be priced so much and companies like Capcom wonder why the fanbase hates their tactics. That's the price of what the PS5 would be.

I just wanted to add that thanks to this attitude, it feels like consumers have no power at all anymore and why I really want nothing to do with modern gaming.
Seriously, it feels like a really sucky time to be a gamer right now.
Even Spike Chunsoft charges so much with Fire Pro World, and it's caused some people who have downloaded Edits on PS4 to be unable to use them until they buy the next DLC with updated versions. The only workaround for that is going through the trouble of copying every downloaded Edit into new save slots if the uploaders are active. This has affected me the most. I haven't played for awhile. I finally get a chance, build a women's league, go to start...half the women's roster is in red. Well, hell...couldn't make me aware of this BEFORE I MADE THE LEAGUE?!! (I don't like it, but I built a bridge and got over it quickly.)

I see both sides of things on this one. For example, people who hated Battlefront 2 at release had valid complaints, that game was bullshit. But then you have people losing their shit about the Pokemon DLC, and I’m like “Do you motherf***ers know what Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum etc were???” Complaining about a broken game is one thing, throwing a temper tantrum because a company releases a $30 DLC instead of a $60 Ultra Premium edition of the game you already bought, and was a complete game and story, is stupid. But maybe I’m more tolerant of it because I grew up in a time DLC wasn’t a thing, they just sold you a new Street Fighter game at full price with a couple changes each year. Although I’d say it’s something across all media now, a lot of times if someone doesn’t care for something they take it as a personal slight. “(Blank) raped my childhood!!!” because a new version of said movie/show/game came out they didn’t like. It’s f***ing ridiculous. As usual these days, acting the rebel is so much more important. "Nintendo have screwed me over for years and I'm not gonna take it anymore! Back in the day, SMB3 cost $60, and I expect 100 times more content today for the exact same price, updated and bug free!" Any variation means you're not a friend of the people any more. You're a sheeple. You're a shill. Why would you defend a company that doesn't care about you? Stop white knighting. Can you imagine these guys dealing with the WWE and how it treats his fan

There being legitimate reasons to complain about the state of gaming does not mean that entitled gamers don't still exist.
There are a lot of entitled gamers. Mainly because there are a lot of entitled fans of anything.
'We, as fans, deserve to get x, y and z!'
No, you don't. You don't deserve anything except what you directly paid for, and unfortunately what 'that' is, is decided by the people making it.
And yes, it does suck that modern gaming is ruined by things like microtransactions and being basically broken without DLC. But the answer to that is to play different games. It's not like games without these things don't exist. Features like this are usually announced in advance, or come from producers that are infamous for this sort of thing.

I saw a tweet from someone complaining about the fact Horizon Zero Dawn is going to the PC and that they had purchased a PS4, X-Box and a PC and were upset because the exclusivity was what justified them spending that amount of money on the different devices
I mean if you can afford to buy three different expensive gaming machines to play a couple of exclusives then clearly you have plenty of cash to spare but this dude isn’t thinking about those who can afford one device and that this may open up a game to people who only have a PC. Stuff like that is where the narrative comes from too I feel
Of course like others say, you have companies really bending gamers over a table with Microtransactions (I still haven’t purchased CTR remake because of this) so it’s not always a case of being entitled either

Given the recent news about Cyberpunk 2077's upcoming crunch, as another case in which this labour practice is demonstrated to be pervasive, systemic, and normalized across the video games industry, it is eyebrow-raising just how little gamers talk or care about the effects of crunch on the people who make the video games they love. So long as the game comes out on time and isn't buggy, and doesn't have anti-consumerist micro-transactions (!), the effects of crunch are inconsequential.

My anger is never at developers and it's not like I'm the one personally forcing them to work harder. That's another thing about the "entitlement" thing that ticks me off. It's causing us all to point fingers at each other and taking the blame off of who's really responsible for the mess we're in: stupidly greedy publishers and short sighted shareholders who don't give a shit about games and only care about profits even at the expense of both developers and buyers even if it means potentially crashing the market..

If it makes you feel any better, it's a really sucky time to be a consumer, worker, airbreather, etc.

I think if Pokemon is going to start doing DLC they maybe should bloody well stop doing two versions of the game then. It just reeks of corporate greed to do both and seems to me, the only logical progression would be to start doing version exclusive DLC so if you really want to play it all you need both games and both sets of DLC and dear god where does it end?

I mean they’re already doing that. The DLC passes are version exclusive(there’s literally Expansion Pass Sword and Expansion Pass Shield, each sold separately). And that’s because, there’s also version exclusive Pokemon in the DLC, because of course there is.

Yeah but that really only changes the wild pokemon I've heard, and unlocks them for both games, so the actual gameplay content is the same....for now
