In the Philippines where I live, the Taal volcano might soon erupt. People in the region are being evacuated. I'm safe where I am, but the ash being spewed out is reaching where I am. It's rather surreal. Like, 6PM or so, weather was still fine, then an hour or so later the streets are being covered in ash. There's a slight scent in the air as if New Year's eve just finished. Just a lingering scent similar to fireworks.

I heard recently it's now at level 4
Here's a video of the eruption:

Well if I've learned anything from cartoons, it's that lava is perfectly harmless as long as you don't directly touch it. Also that you can surf on it with things like kitchen tables.
Good luck and stay safe.

With all these disasters happening so closely, the Australian fires and then we've got the Taal volcano in the Phillipines...is anyone else getting worried that none of us might not see 2021?!

The volcano has erupted 30 or so minutes ago. Praying for the safety of anyone caught up in the mess.

Made a mistake. The news I read didn't quite specify at the eruption. Just the ash and steam that was reported earlier. No big eruption yet. Either way, my sentiment to those affected remains the same. Like, I live pretty far from where the worst of it is, yet the small balcony outside my home has a layer of ash on it. That pretty much says that the ones closer to Taal are having it far worse.

No, but these disasters show clearly why putting irrational people in positions of power have serious consequences.
